I had it originally where...nobody saw it. So,with it also being a hot spot,I dug it up after a few years and put my Guava's there.
The rose I hurriedly planted in what turned out to be a bad spot. Too much shade.
This summer,I dug it up again and into a pot. What surprised me? It wasn't just it bloomed..the blooms are like 1/4 the size of the in ground blooms. In ground,the Rose had this beautiful mix of colors..peach and red and white. These new small blooms dont really show that.
When I put it in the pot- very few roots. I had to really put in much potting soils around the huge air pockets. So,I'm hoping that when I plant this into a larger pot it will get closer to the size of a long stemmed Rose it use to be.

That's really interesting to read about. I've found that roses need sunshine. The one I had at the front of my old house in a pot died even though it was the same variety (masquerade) as one that was all over the front of someone's house just along the road on the other side.

Then I had another one in a pot, in the back garden and it just did okay, but since I've moved here and put it into the border it has been so much happier. Although it got munched and didn't bloom this year it has recovered from that well and looks good and healthy.

I put it in the same area as 2 other roses that were already there and both of those had lovely blooms.

I would love to see an update of this when you've upsized the pot and what happens. It sounds like the colours are gorgeous when it's at its best.

Its a lovely colour Stan yes a taller deeper pot as the roots of roses are deep and roses dont like their roots sitting in water . My roses are in either moring sun afternoon sun or in shade and dont forget to feed in spring and through out the flowering season. I use slow release feed watering in.

I have to check the roots out at the pots openings Penny. If I see some...then ready for a bigger pot to get full sized blooms.

PAM..yep,For some reason I thought behind my shed was a good spot for the moved Rose. All it did was mildew and defoliate. 100% opposite by this sunny hot wall. I like this Rose plenty. Its one of the nicest you will ever see at its peak.
