Ptychococcus lepidotus - Bow Palm

Nice looking and clean palm. I never heard of them. Do they have any cold tolerance? Could even be a great container palm.

It's a very tropical palm, even though it's grown at higher elevations of New Guinea. I'm actually very surprised it grows here being such a tropical rain forest tree. I remember when it was younger and smaller it never looked so great. Now, as they've gotten larger they look flawless and beautiful! The leaflets look almost like fishtails and the crownshaft is very unique.

I think this tree would be very difficult to grow outside the tropics or warm subtropical climate, even in a pot. I think these two trees really lucked out here in San Diego. It's hardiness is very similar to Hyophorbe langencualis (Bottle Palm).
