This is Common putat in Hiroshima Botanical Garden.

They have night festival twice a year.I took this photo in last summer.It is the most popular flower for the night festival.

Looks like lots of little fireworks going off - does it smell?

It smells sweet. According to a horticulturist of the Hiroshima Botanical Garden, the flower of Common putat opens only in the night. We have tours to go to south island of Japan to observe the flowers.

I'm running out of superlatives...lol. it is night blooming, sweet smelling and unique... very interesting. Wish I could smell it.
