Fabulous !

Oh how I do want to grow these in my garden..I do love them. My mum used to grow them, but I've had no luck! The bulbs are so expensive.

These came from Harts lilies the three bulbs you are looking at were £ 3.60 for the three +carriage, seems cheap enough to me.

I have just looked at their website Bjs. They give a lot of info on growing their bulbs. They do collections of bulbs at very reasonable prices. Your lilies look great.

Hi Brian, thanks for that! I've seen them around £5 a bulb! Do they need acid soil? Hope you Pauline and Jamie are well?

For the first year they could not be easier, they recommend containers 8/10 inch for 3 bulbs which is what I have used, they are in a mix of JI and a peat based potting compost.
I do intend to give a couple of feeds when they finish flowering just give them a boost for next year.
And the dreaded lily beetle seems to be controlled with Provado Multi-Bug.so all in all a success for 2013.

Thanks Brian. I have just put in my order with Hydes as they have my Royal Sunset and Eyeliner in their L.Asiatic section (I have coveted Eyeliner for a while now). I also ordered several turks caps..3 for £1.20 each!!! Can't believe they are so cheap. I think I will pot these on for the first couple months singly so I can control spraying of Provado. the birds get all over the garden eating aphids so have to be careful with sprays. Bit more difficult when they are in the garden so will just keep an eye out. I sprayed the pot lilies twice this year and that seems to have done the trick but only when I spied the dreaded beetle first. Im so thrilled they all flowered so well this year as I am a bit of a wimp about physically squidging the beetles lol! So grateful for Provado and for your advice..I'm off to feed them forthwith! The lilies I mean - not the beetles!!
