I had read about it Marquerite and must admit I'm beginning to think it might be a mistake to introduce it into our country , I didn't realise the seed pods explode like that sending out more seeds to germinate , this is such a tiny island ,we already have the Japanese Knot Grass which is a huge problem ....

Marquerite the blackberry has become a nightmare in our garden the fields on each side of us have been completely overtaken with brambles ,the birds eat the berries then drop the seed in our garden I can pull 100's of tiny plants up each day it's no good using the hoe because if you leave them lying on the ground they soon take root again , the big problem is my back it's getting tired of stooping down to pull them up each year as we are getting older :o(
It's a big problem for builders or any building where the Japanese Knot weed grass grows ,it's almost impossible to kill ,it will grow up to 7ft straight through the foundations of a building it causes a lot of damage ......

We have half an acre Marquerite ,tiny compared to your big spaces out there , they have been trying to get planning permission to built on the ground all around us we would hate that and would rather put up with the brambles than have houses built round us ,we have a pretty garden we will continue the battle for as long as we can , it isn't a problem where the land is looked after and cultivated it's mainly areas that have been left unattended for years ...
