I have had mine for 2 years - no 'flowers' though. How long did yours take to flower, Amy?

Hello Amy, where were you? Welcome back. You have beautiful Cornus kousa. How old is this? I have two as well, just kids :)) They bloomed, but nothing special yet, few flowers which dried too early. It was too dry weather in April and May and they love humid soil.

Thank you .. Ojib We had flowers the first year , but I wonder if this wet cold weather has held them back this year because I haven't the flowers on my tree that I normally would have ..
Hi Kat ! My son and his family have been here on holiday , they went home last night ,it's been so busy this is the first opportunity I have had to peep into GOY , my tree is 12 years old it is growing in a spot where it gets the sun all day long ,that is when we have any sun LOL , I have seen one in pink which looks stunning but expensive ! Thanks Alex ,I bought this when one of the grandchildren were born , they like to walk round and say " which tree is mine " :o))

That is nice....did you plant one for each grandchild?

My cousin who lives in London planted a tree in a forest (can't remember name now) for my youngest child when he was born. We have a little certificate and a map to where the tree is planted. I thought that was really nice.

That's a lovely thing to do Alex. :D I have of this type, a florida, a Kousa and a Kousa 'Miss Satomi' (with the pink flowers) but sadly, none of them has produced anything this year...they are only babies a couple of years in the ground. I shall have to wait a few more years by the sound of it! But they are worth waiting for....stunning plants.

Yes Alex we have planted a tree for each grandchildchild ,that was a nice gift from your cousin to have a tree planted with a certificate and map, when your youngest is grown up he wil go off in search of it ! they do seem to have their 'off ' years Karen ,some years they are covered in blooms and other not .

We were speaking to Bob Flowerdew at the weekend Dd he said they are all the same this year and that it is the weather conditions , we must take the good years with the bad i'm afraid .. I often think I should have bought a tree / shrub when it was cheaper but eons ago we didn't know they were going to rise in price so steeply . yes they do call them Bracts they aren't true flowers , I have an elderly neighbour who has managed to grow one from my seed , I have tried but haven't had any luck , he has the knack of setting a seed shoving it away somewhere and then forgetting all about it . I can't do that I'm impatient !

Buy one now Dawn ! in 10 years time they will have tripled in price LOL , Jims garden is becoming very overgrown Dawn he can't manage it as well as he use to , I would be scared to let you see my garden compared to the grandness of yours Dawn :o))

Lol Amy, good plan, must have a look, I've received a 20% off voucher from Burncoose as a valued customer, lol, they're sure to have one.

Poor Jim, isn't it sad - I can see that happening to me one day :-(

Get away Amy, nothing grand about my patch, I imagine your's is perfect.
