Bauhinia variegata - Orchid Tree

This tree is extremely common here in San Diego. It starts to bloom in early Feb - May. Photo taken Apr. 27, 2011. This is one is a tree street.

The Hong Kong Orchid tree (Bauhinia x blakeana) makes a better street tree in my opinion and is also very widely used here (as a street tree).

Thanks! The Bauhinia variegata, purpurea and variegata 'Candida' started blooming back in early February.
Yes, the Jacarandas are blooming now; they started about 3 weeks ago.

How wonderful for all the lucky people in San Diego. I know for positive/sure that the lovely Jacaranda won't work in my area...but ...it was an unforgettable experience to see the seedlings springing up in the garden.

Yes, all the trees and plants are growing and blooming so well this year. I think it's because of all the rain we had this last rainy season.
