Hi Sandra, of course you're welcome to a glass or two, or three.
Oh Jane, so will Ray be away for best part of next week :-(((
Amy: Its lovely, I didnt expect it to be so good. We tried a tot but we'll try and resist and keep until Xmas.
When we decanted, I was surprised to see the sloes were still complete. We both tried one but boy are they dry. We thought about your idea of the chocolate but then didnt bother because of the stones. Then John tried crushing them to get the gin out but nothing there, you'll know what I mean, so no, we didnt do anything with them.

28 Feb, 2010

I think there is going to be a queue at your house Dawn, cheers.

28 Feb, 2010

Ha ha Bob, you can jump the queue :-))))

We only tried the chocolate idea once Dawn , it's to fiddly and not worth it ..I'm glad you like the drink .. it's nice made into a long drink with lemonade as well ....... you can use one bottle and keep the other for Christmas !

28 Feb, 2010

We'll try the lemonade then Amy. It was a shame is discard the sloes though as they looked so perfect. Nevermind, they've done their job. We'll try and keep both bottles, hmmm we'll see. I think you said it gets better if left Amy, is that right but its so nice already.

It is better if you can keep it longer Dawn , you will be like us and make more next year .... .. In my book it does say that you can use the same discarded sloes to make another bottle but that it will be weaker , I don't think that I would like to do that , you would lose that lovely colour ........

28 Feb, 2010

Can I have mine now ? Lol xx

28 Feb, 2010

Amy

I love this, made and drunk many a bottle, try it with damsons, then use the damsons to make a pie or crumble..........deeeelecious but very boozy, so cheers m'y dears and down the hatch.

28 Feb, 2010

Hi Amy, yes, we'll definitely make more next year .... we'll be on the look out for plenty of sloes. I think I would prefer to use fresh ones rather the the old ones twice.
Jane: We'll wait until Ray gets back then before we crack a bottle open :-)
Will you be making some next year then Dotty?

1 Mar, 2010

I do prefer damson to the sloes, depends if we can collect enough damsons, as they have to be the best.....

1 Mar, 2010

we have a damson tree :-) Although it didnt fruit too well last year. Maybe I should try them :-)
