Silverberry in Fall

Silverberry in Fall

This lovely eleagnus, my favorite at the Bot garden is all berries and some nice silver curled leaves cling through to the end. I'll have one one day.

Hope you do manage to get one soon, GT. I have always wanted a small rowan tree and hopefully I will before too long :)

I've enjoyed this all year. There is a straggling branch that may need removed.....lol. This is a native, but I haven't seen one wild myself.

oh goodness..if it is native there..I doubt it would like it here all that well....do ya think?

It probably would. We have many natives that do well cultivated in other environments. Many of ours are found as far south as California. Some natives just mean hardy....lol. Our true natives are things that require the long winters to reproduce, and those are much more rare. Eleagnus can be found just about anywhere.
