'I get by with a little help from my friends.....'

‘What would you do, if I gave up on you,
Would you stand up and let me just go,
Take my plant up and repot me real quick,
And I’ll see if I can start to regrow….

Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,
Oooh, I’m gonna try with a little help from my friends….

Lennon/Mcartney – The Beatles (With a little poetic license from me!)

A few weeks back I posted a pic on My Photo’s of my sad, dieing Brunnera. See this link:

I felt awful as I felt I had done wrong by this plant and learning curve it may be but no-one likes to get it wrong. Youngdaisydee advised me to remove the plant form by the pond as it had died right back and repot and put in part shade. Sanbaz then added to that advice and suggested cutting it all back and just leaving the one half-decent leaf so none of the other stems would take any of the nutrients from it. In all honesty, I didn’t hold out any hope but when Ali went to work this morning, I was pottering in the garden and checked on it and guess what……

This is the half-decent leaf unchanged since repotting.

And these little suckers are NEW ones!! Brilliant stuff. I may be sad but for me, after I thought I’d lost it, to see this is great stuff and makes you feel good. Look closely and there are 2 more tiny ones popping up as well.

Fingers crossed….

So, I really did get by with a little help from my friends.

Thanks Youngdaisydee and Sanbaz

Cheers mate!

I felt terrible when it just 'went'! Just hope it is okay for next year now but it's looking promising already so really quite pleased with myself!

To be honest LL, my attitude has changed a lot since starting out. I used to panic if something dies back but now I prune, wait and let nature do its bit.

Thanks for the comments.

ou can rely on GoY for plenty of good advice. Where possible, I always lift sickly plants and pot them up so I can keep an eye on them in 'intensive care' and give loads of TLC. As you've found it's so rewarding when you manage to 'rescue' something . :o))
