This evening I grabbed my trusty gardening hoe and decided to turn my compost pile that had been neglected over the winter.
Last fall I had a very cool looking house plant die and I had thrown the contents of the pot into the compost pile.. Guess what? Over the winter and spring that thing had drawn enough nutrients from the compost pile to actually survive!
Here’s my crude compost pile:

I unearthed the plant by accident and it was growing! I potted it in the same compost that had brought it back to life and this is what it looks like in its’ new home:

My wife knew exactly what the plant was but I can’t remember that long name.
It’s a variegated “something”.. {chuckle}
I am just amazed that I found it and it was still alive! That just made my day!
