What kind of plants are these?

Today my brother in law gave me some spare annuals of some kind that look beautiful, but I have no idea what they are. Yes, I admit that most of my research is based on improving soil conditions and giving any plant the optimum growing conditions, but I lack the ability to identify what a plant is.
My wife seems to think that these little guys might be Petunias. Here’s a photo:

All of them are severely root-bound in these tiny containers, but I am pretty sure that I can rescue them into some organic media and save them. I just need to know what I am dealing with, so I can custom tailor an organic soil program that suits the plant’s specific needs.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Petunias are indeed what they are N2. They are pretty easy to look after. I'm sure you'll have them flourishing in no time. Just try to keep them deadheaded. :o)

yep petunias, look nice in a nicepot, in my garden they go in pots or tubs on the patio where they are shaded from the midday sun, they'd look nice with a bit of something else in the pot--- look up Goy pots & also petunias and you'll find lots of ideas :0)

They're pretty petunias, too!

OH, that just make my day because I grew some "wave petunias" in a hanging basket last summer that looked great!
Thanks for the suggestion, Pamg!
My wife has grown them in containers and I have a great container from last year that has the richest organic soil that you can imagine. It is about 5 gallons and the soil was prepared and amended to grow a lot of "moss rose".
The new petunias should be "happy campers" in this very special soil mix that has composted over the winter! ;-)

Here's the old pot last year:

Hope that worked.
