Old planters update!

This year, I have tried the same thing in a few of my “unusual” planters with some good results. I had converted an old Sansui power amplifier into a planter last year and planted some “sweet potato vine” in it along with an existing “dusty miller” that had survived last winter.
Here’s what it looks like today:

Of course, every amplifier needs a “speaker”, right?
Here’s the matching “hanging basket” made from an old “kicker 15 inch woofer” that has a variegated English ivy and a sweet potato vine growing in it:

Here’s the backside view of the “speaker planter” and you can see the magnet and hanging hardware.

Both planters have been filled with rich organic amendments and the plants are growing like crazy..
I just love them!

I have a few old computers that I would love to convert into planters, but designing an unusual container has SO many variables, such as:

"Are there any residual chemicals that would hurt the plant"?

"What are the plant's cubic feet of soil requirements to support the root structure and not let it become root-bound"?

"What are the plant's soil and drainage requirements"?

All of that has to be taken into consideration to give the plant the optimum growing environment that will insure that the little guy is a "happy camper" in his new home.
GO PLANTS!
