Time to Blog

Its been ages since I last blogged what with my son and his new wife living with us for a few months ( they`ve moved out now) my daughter and her family moving house and countless other things taking up precious gardening and computer time. Anyway, I`m mending my ways and getting back into the swing of things, I miss hearing about all your gardening tales and seeing your latest photos.

I`ve spent all weekend in the garden and am happy with what I`ve got done. I had collected a few plants over Winter and at last I got all of them into the ground and in one case, a pot. I`ve planted second early spuds which just leaves some main crop Rooster, which will go in next week. Of course a couple of the new plants are Heucheras, `Frosted Violet` `Melting Fire` and Heucherella `Spring Symphony`. Also Coreopsis`s `Moonbeam` and `Zagreb` can`t wait to see these two in flower, they`re lovely). The one in the pot is Nandena `Gulfstream` a compact variety.

These azalias belong to my son-in-law who left them with me before the house move. They were badly in need of attention so I weeded, top-dressed, fed and watered them and now they are thriving. Perhaps he won`t come and collect them before they flower then they`ll cheer up the patio no end!:o)

Heuchera `Miracle` looking good for the time of year.

By all accounts a new variety, `Melting Fire`. I bought it from a small garden centre nearby for £2.99, bargain eh?

Frosted Violet`, I`ve liked this one for ages and now I have it. :o)

I have lots more seedlings this year because I`m not usually as successfully but I decided to try coir pellets and the results have been amazing, I`ll definitely use them again. All I need to do now is find room to plant them all! I`ll most likely be giving loads of the away so at least I`ll be popular…lol!

On Tuesday it`ll be my 60th birthday and I`m looking forward to it with mixed feelings. I think 60 sounds a bit scary but at least I`m reasonably healthy and hubby Jim reaches his milestone in April so I`ll be in good company. We are planning a celebratory year with visits to the theatre, visits to gardens and flower shows ( my idea!) a trip to Brighton to buy Jim a special present, (he doesn`t know yet) and later in the year a trip to America for a tour of the National Parks. We are really looking forward to it, it`ll be the trip of a lifetime.

Anyway, that`s it for now, Bye. :o)

Welcome back Sandra, I wondered where you'd got to.
It sounds like you've been kept very busy but I'm glad to see you've got straight back into that garden and been busy out there too. Lovely pics especially those beatiful Heucheras. Don't worry 60 isn't so bad once it actually arrives, I hope you enjoy your celebrations. :o)
