There were many songs composed on white roses…but none of them is as good as this…

…and none of words as pertinent as pictures…

Lovely :-)

What a stunning rose, Katarina. Nothing more lovely than a pure white rose ..... Although I saw a display of fabulous very clear, bright yellow roses at the GC we had lunch at yesterday. I thought David Austin's Graham Thomas rose was the best pure yellow I had ever come across, but these were even more beautiful. Sadly, as it had begun raining heavily, I wasn't brave enough to investigate what their name was, but will return soon. Your white roses here are simply divine & have told me in no uncertain terms, that I must find a place in our garden for a pure white climbing/rambling rose.

Dwyllis@this is Iceberg climbing rose. I love it, although it needs pruning three times a year and blooms just for one month, usually in the early summer (in central Europe).

Thanks Katarina. I will look out for it. We have a lot of places where a climbing rose is required, & Iceberg is a real beauty.

You are welcome. I am sure you will be happy with Iceberg, it grows vigorously.

Gorgeous Katarina, I have Iceberg and except for this year (bad for all our roses) its a beauty....

Iceberg needs special pruning, be aware of it. Have a look on internet. Bad pruning can cause it doesn´t bloom or it bloom weakly.

That's sounds challenging, Katarina. I always thought one could more or less leave climbers and ramblers to get on with it and do their own thing. Will look it up as you suggested. :0)

Hi Dwyllis@Iceberg grows very vigorously and if I didn´t keep it under control by pruning, it will soon create a big bush. It depends, what you wish. If a solitary bush or a fence. If you want a fence, you must prune it according to your needs but keep flower buds on. Otherwise, there isn´t any big art in pruning it, just more often.

Will either grow it up over a rather delapidated weatherboard garage which we are not going to replace, or over new garden shed, or along tall fence. So would probably only require light pruning to keep in shape. Might even think of growing it through a medium-sized tree visible from our sun porch. Would it be suitable for that?
