Ginger (Zingiber officinale (Ginger))

I planted this ginger, from a root that was sprouting. Now it is blooming. I don't know when to remove the new root. Does anyone have any idea?

sorry I don't know when to harvest it. but the flower is pretty.

It looks like it is Phytolacca americana, a vicious weed that will spread and grow from any root bits left behind. The seed pods are going to be turning a dark violet.

Looking further, make sure this isn't Phytolacca because if it is, it needs to be cooked in a special way or you may get ill - Pokeweed (the common name) is poisonous.

Goodness, thank you Willie!

I though the flower was different those I've already seen, but as it grew up in the site I have planted the ginger, I thought it was ginger. :(
Took it out and right to the garbage plastic bag. It IS poisonous.

Today I'm planting a new ginger root. Let's see what happen.
