I love the Hidcote lavenders...one of the best there is! There were only two "stoechas winter survivors".The rest had to be replaced...sadly! The winter was long and severe.

Yes..I remember hearing about snow in parts of Europe which never see it!...(like Portugal and Spain) Are cold winters and lots of snow usual in the Wachau?

How I wish I could grow this lavender...It's not hardy enough here...I can grow the Hidcote lavender and it overwinters well...grows into a woody shrub...smells delicious,too.
