By Andrewr

Fritillaria michailovskyi - 2014 (Fritillaria michailovskyi (Fritillary))

Small bulb, just a few inches tall, for well-drained soil in full sun. Intolerant of wet conditions when dormant. Best grown in an alpine house or raised bed.
This photo shows how the buds form at ground level before the flowers open and then raise on short stems.

We grew these and within a few days our first lily beetles appeared, obviously attracted to this plant!!

DD - I think lily beetles like all fritillaries. I found them on my crown imperials last year.

A good reason for me to avoid them.....I have enough insects or pests to deal with.....
