Coronilla valentina subsp glauca var citrina - 2015

Coronilla valentina subsp glauca var citrina - 2015 (Coronilla valentina)

A mouthful of a name! Shrub that flowers and flowers and flowers. For poor, well-drained soil in full sun. Cut back in spring to stop it becoming woody and leggy (but the books will tell you not too hard). Probably not hardy in colder areas, and has a lifespan of less than ten years. Propagate by cuttings.

Best time to take cuttings please Andrew for Coronillas ... ?

... and take what size cuttings from which section of the plant ?

TT - the RHS reckons either softwood cuttings in early summer, or semi ripe cuttings in late summer. I think this means the tops of growing stems, probably a few inches long.

Must get OH to take cuttings, cannot believe how long a ❀ flowering period this plant has.

Thanks Andrew .. I have the ordinary Coronilla valentina, not citrina, and I think it is possibly a little more hardy than citrina ... I'll try to make cuttings this summer.

My Coronilla is flowering away happily.

Mines a Citrina DD I have it in a large pot which I keep against the kitchen wall in the winter and despite the heavy frosts we had last week its looking very good.
