Oh, I understand the impulse...it is gorgeous... are the leaves toothed? very interesting to ponder who the parents of this one might have been, or is it a hybrid? These days crosses are so common that it is sometimes hard to know what it is you're looking at...lol.

Thanks ladies, its a bit unusual is'nt it - have'nt seen this type before, it was in a mixed tray i bought from B & Q in the autumn - none of the others were anything like it - maybe it got mixed up in with them some how - even the leaf shape is different! bonus!

well to be honest i think my slug war is winning! i have'nt seen any slugs for at least a week and the weather has been just perfect for them to be out munching, and they do love a viola don't they, the last flush of flowers was covered in little holes, but as you can see from this one, now there is not a blemish on hardly any of them - defo worth investing the £30 me thinks - i know should'nt count chickens etc..... wait and see what happens when the Hostas appear!

hi you could try sticking a mini windmill in the pot, proberly also not hugely attractive, but might look better than sticks and thread you can get some that are quite sweet rather than gordy. my friend used to live on the top floor of a block of flats she had several nice pots on her balcony and had the same problem with birds and she used to stick windmills in everything - aparently they scar them off!
