Perennial Pansies
Perennial Pansies
Asked on 15 Apr, 2008
I saw some lovely delicate looking pansies at the garden centre that are labelled perennial pansy. Are these really perennial or will they look scraggy next year? If they are perennial how are they propagated? Many Thanks

Thank you so much. Apart from anything else i can now look up the plants to find more types being that i can now look under Viola. Info is much easier to find now and have found some good plug plants online.

There are lots of different perennial violas (pansies). Many are short lived, but some like V. sorroria are good true long lasting plants. When they have finished flowering you merely cut them back, as one does with Aubrieta and away they go again. Propagation is just as easy, either take some of the pieces and use them as cuttings or take rooted pieces from the plant itself.
