Autumn is normally the time to start planting the bulbs of this genus made up of about 150 different species of perennial. The daffodil is the national flower of Wales and is a firm favourite as a garden plant and cut flower.
Over time, thousands of cultivars have been grown in a variety of shades of orange, yellow, white and even pink. There are 13 different groups of daffodils depending on the size, shape and number of flowers on each stem.
The bulbs are incredibly poisonous if eaten (beware, they do look a bit like onions) but the flowers of Jonquilla daffs and Tazetta can be candied and used as decoration – they smell fantastic too!

This happened to me last April. I took the completely broken ones inside and enjoyed an "indoor springtime" with a vase of them on the kitchen table so that they didn't seem wasted.

Thanks, and i really like clashing colours, being a florist i love to experiment with colour - ofcourse i would'nt put these colours together in clothing or in my house decor, but in the garden i think boldness really can work! glad you like it.

Great planting combination - and proof that colours you think shouldn't work, frequently do in the garden, the yellow makes the pink/purple even stronger.
