In general, enkianthus should not need any pruning except the possible removal of badly placed branches in late winter or early spring while still dormant.
Overgrown specimens break freely by cutting down hard at the same time although you will lose one or seasons of flower. I would also give it a healthy feed at the same time as encouragement
