We have recently had a lot of wind which has damaged many of my Simplicity rose buds. I finally got one yesterday which opened and looked nice enough to photograph and add to my plant journal.

Thanks, Sanbaz and Michaella. I had to catch it in the early morning hours. By mid-afternoon, it will become a pinker shade....must have something to do with our intense sunlight.

Oh wow!!! What a fabulous rose. I WANT ONE, lol
The only 'blue' one I can seem to find in the UK is Blue Moon which I can't grow to save my life. I've never heard of this one though.
Just googled and still can't find one here. *sob*

Thanks, Hywel, Ray and Jane. Llew, I had to look for a couple of years to finally locate this one. I ordered 5 of them and all 5 seem to be doing well. It was advertised as a hedge rose.

Beautiful colour, beautiful rose.

Great
do not think I have seen that colour in UK .How does it cope with Dry, roes are usually thirsty
20 Apr, 2009
Actually, roses do very well in Arizona. You have to water them but not so often when they are established. They appear to adapt quite readily to our dry climate.

I really like this particular color, Gee.

Such a beautiful coloured rose Skippy, really different. Is it scented too?
20 Apr, 2009
Rbf...not your traditional rose scent...in fact, I haven't detected a scent at all but they are described as having a citrus smell....If there is a scent it is very light. My bushes are still quite young. This is only their second year and they started out as little 6 inch live bushes. They are about 18 inches tall now but the rose is a good 3 inches across.

Actually this is their second year in the ground. They were grown a year in a container prior to that.

I agree with Liew, the best blue we have is blue Moon, but i find it very difficult to grow, i also have Twice in a Blue Moon, also dificult as it is shy to shoot, Usually giving just one or two tall shoots, your is lovely.

This is a gorgeous colour Skippy. Lovely rose....does it smell as good as it looks?
30 Apr, 2009
No, Gilli, it doesn't at least not like a traditional rose. They are descrbed as having a light citrusy smell but I have not detected a smell...of course, my smeller isn't too good most of the time..lol

Wow! What a beautiful colour! I don't think I will be able to find it here in New Zealand, but I'm going to have a look online.

Dwyllis, it doesn't take long for the color to fade to pink in our intense sun but I do enjoy the color when it first opens. Thanks for your comment.

I had a look in one of the best online rose cataloques in NZ & couldn't spot it anywhere. There were a couple of others similar, but not as nice.
