What a great idea - this would be useful especially in a playscheme for younger children

I agree. I did want to do several things for the local school garden, but they were afraid of vandalism (yes, even in villages, it exists. Villages do not have much to offer older children and teenagers. So, it was best to use our own garden and let people come and go. Even our neighbours don't know it exists, because no-one overlooks it.

Yes Patrick, and this was b4 completion, Everything you see I built gradually over the last 3 years. If it had not been there already, I assure you, there would have been no Wizard of Oz garden. All it took was a few (4, I seem to remember) coats of paint on the walkway and 1 coat of grey undercoat on the playhouse. My Dad 72 this year) was so eager to help (he spoke about it for months), so he marked out the "brickwork" in black exterior gloss paint (nearly 2 whole days on his own) and he rivetted the Tin Man's parts together for us. The whole painting, however, took over 2 months, due to rain. No longer woud we have finished a coat, when the rain began. We had yellow grass and earth for days on end, I remember, LOL!

hi Fl! many thanx for your kind comment! Wait for the new theme next year! Seriously, it has been such a great place for all the village kids to experience gardening in a way that interests them. And, to think, I initially wrote off the idea as a non-starter !!!

Many thanx, Dee. I really like the clean modern lines and design of your garden. Will be taking a closer look soon. Do you really think that Tyne-and-Wear is tropical, compared to Scotland, he he!?

This was great fun, Joanella, and I think you're right; adults seemed to get just as excited, if not more so, than the children! :-))
