I haven't seen one of these since I was a kid!! If I can see an eight spotted Forester, maybe I can see a Luna moth if I hang out in the right places... Am I right to suppose that they are a hot weather insect?...we've just had our first heatwave (along with everyone else on the continent) so I'm seeing more butterflies.

You should have them around Lori; we used to get them up north (North Cobalt) in the summer. They flocked to the big industrial lights at the Hydro dam they were building, like gossamer fairies...
I've only seen one around my home here, and that was some time ago.Then again I am not often out at night, so if I made the effort they may be more numerous!

Haahaaa GZ...That was my thought...get out at night more!! I remember seeing them as a kid....they would bash against the windows....the subject of this pic has lovely swallow tails...I don't recall that feature on the ones I saw as a child...but I do remember the lovely big "eyes" on the wings...
