Bay laurel
Genus: Laurus.
Species: Laurus nobilis.
Bay tree. Bought as a pot plant about 10in tall in about 1998. It was kept in pots for several years, clipped into a conical shape until it started to look particularly miserable in 2006 during the hot summer. Planted in the ground aug 06 at the far end of the garden, now looks healthier and is about 6ft 6in tall, same height as the back fence. Could be taller if I didn't clip it so regularly for shape, growth not so good at the fence-facing side where it lacks light.
