About this plant

Crocosmia is a corm, related to Acidanthera, and since I plant them close to one another I sometimes mix up the corms. Acidanthera have to be lifted every fall, but the crocosmia are winter hardy. They don't seem to mind being lifted, however. The leaves are lanceolate, like the Acidanthera and Gladiolus. Plant in a grouping, they form a spray like a fountainhead.. with the blossoms on long stems held above the foliage and branching. The flowers mature from the stem to the tip of the branch in succession. bloom in midsummer. Colour is a brilliant scarlet red.
