After our walk today , around a large fishing lake with grebes ( of interest) and hundreds of mating Canadian Geese ( on quite so) ,we went to the garage to “fill up”.
There was a vintage car there and its driver was going to pay inside .
Said I to OH we know him ," never" quoth he .
Well I went in to pay , and accosted the gentleman , accusing him of knowing me , which he did eventually remember ! Humph !
Well we chatted and I said that he must take me for a spin sometime , and off he went .
When I returned to the car he was talking to OH and had asked permission to take me home in his car . (Oops )
OH looked at me , and gave a somewhat reluctant “go ahead if you want to” . What ?
It was “Take your vintage motor for a drive” day today . This was an Avis 1925 , windscreen at an angle , dials everywhere , no seat-belts of course . What a treat , down the country lanes , tooting like Rattie .
Home to OH in about 1/2 hr , still somewhat perplexed .
Delivered to the door in style .
To top this , Helen (daughter-in-law) completed the Marathon in 5hrs20mins . Well done , Girl .

Bet you enjoyed your ride home Driad, missed the L out of your Alvis with excitment haha, also well done to your daughter in marathon :o)) hope your OH has forgiven you

Hi Lulu and Sandbaz .
The story is being embelished as it is told ! I think that I am nearly forgiven .
I didn't know that there was an L in Avis , Sandy , I would have been thinking of Elvis then !!!
Daughter- in- law just about recovered , but she says that the trainers will now be hung up .
