I collected my Berberis thunbergii ‘Rose Glow’ from the GC today.
Didnt know before, but I was told by the check-out lady that one of their staff has all the contacts to get the plants customers want. There was no extra charge for this service.
Trailing round the sales area looking for plants is tiring ; and no longer needed.
I liked this Berberis ‘Rose Glow’ on the picture Paul put on his Blog. It has purple stems and red leaves. Contacted him for the name; ordered it in November, received an email from the GC this week that it was in. Today just drove over and collected it.
So any plant that you see on a Blog or in the Encyclopaedia , right colour, right shape, which would enhance your garden can be easily obtained in this way.
I think its wonderful.
Have now ordered an Acer Palmatum Corallinum. It has red leaves.

You are lucky Diane - not all garden centres do this! Good luck with your berberis.

Is this a privately owned GC, or one of a chain, Diane? It seems unfortunately rare to get service like this offered these days. Good for them!

One of the GCs (independently owned) near me does this service - I have been in a coupe of times and they have offered.
You will be eagerly awaiting your new Acer :)

This is Bosworth's Garden Centre at Burton Latimer Northamptonshire. If you have relatives in the area, or can travel, or have someone working on a travel job, you could order a plant on line, even pay in advance, and your friend collect it. Worth a try.
Its a great service, you just have to wait a few weeks.
