Farewell to summer.

Been deadheading again but this time my son happened to be on the scene and he said he thought a blown rose was, if anything, more interesting than a bud??? so I suggested that he take a photo of one and this is the result and, you know what? I think he might be right. What do you think? And do any of you recall my query about my Duchess of Albany clematis? Well the wonderful Bamboo gave me some advice which I have followed and Hurrah!! it is now putting on new growth so I am now hopeful for next season. Isn’t he wonderful as well as all the other lovely GOY members who responded. Another big thank you to all.

Hello again, regarding my blog, Farewell to summer - I would like to add that I do not know the names of these roses as they are very old and I inherited them when we moved into this house ten years ago. At that time they were in a sorry condition and all I ever did was prune them and give them some rose feed and lots of tealeaves. The white one has a lovely scent.

My mum used to swear by tea leaves and she had some fab roses.

I do like rose buds best I think. But I know what he means. Roses are just lovely. Your white ones are beautiful, I wish i could smell them.

They are all lovely photo`s, my favourite stage is when they are half open.
My mum used to put tea leaves on hers every day, winter and summer and I cannot remember her ever buying any special food for them, it worked and her roses are still growing strong...

I love tulips when they are at that stage too.
