I made my daughter her favourite cake for her birthday, when they came for tea yesterday..Thomas helped to blow the candle out.,and helped to sing Happy Birthday..

Time for the tasting…which we all enjoyed…except ??

Thomas ! ..he wasn’t enthralled…no need to hide, young man..you are being a bit over dramatic..

He was quite happy with a dish of grapes instead..:o)
Wonder how long that will last ? Lol.

23 Feb, 2012

He might be confined to a couple of pots,Joanella..if I'm quick enough to stop him re designing my borders ! Lol...and thank you for giving me full marks ! :o)

23 Feb, 2012

Thanks Homebird....none left now.we finished it tonight :o)
Thomas might change his mind, when he is old enough to help me bake..and can make his own 'concoctions' no doubt we will be forced to eat them with a smile.! Lol.

23 Feb, 2012

Won't be long now, as soon as he can stand on a stool up to the worktop. I love it when ours want to bake. It's mostly strange coloured buns....lol :o))

Thanks Ba..It's only a 6oz flour,3oz each marg and sugar,3 eggs,in two tins..simples ! ..mmm,never tried grapes in a cake..I might make some banana bread..he likes them now..only because he saw me eating one !

25 Feb, 2012

I'll try that recipe Bloomer...but without the fancy colouring...too lazy:-)

26 Feb, 2012

Just as good without the colouring,Ba..I only do it for her childhood memories..thank goodness she doeasn't want the house with the jelly diamond tiled roof, and the garden with picket fence ! no chance ..:o))

26 Feb, 2012

Aww poor Thomas, I hope he has recovered now not nice to see little ones feeling poorly, give him a hug from me ;0))

29 Feb, 2012

oops Ba..I gave you the wrong amount of ingredients.! it is 6oz of eveverything plus 3 eggs..hope you haven't
made it yet..and there was me saying simples !! duh..

He was fine the day after, Carole..so up and down, aren't they? Fighting fit last night too..I will give him your hug :o)

1 Mar, 2012

No wonder I've been sacked, very dry mix they all said;-)

2 Mar, 2012

Oh no,Ba..so sorry..are you just winding me up,or did you really make it ? I can't believe I did that,as I have made it for years..I promise I won't ever invite you to'Come dine with me ' ! :o))

2 Mar, 2012

Calm down calm down...no I didn't really make it lol...too fiddly, but I did make a smaller plain one (4oz everything two eggs) and black cherry jam and fresh cream. Big mistake..........Oh and I ate half of it between us last night:-)))))

3 Mar, 2012

I meant a plain one,Ba..I know you don't like 'fiddly bits' as you call them ! Lol...Why a big mistake? not at all..sounds lovely..only mistake is not making the bigger one,and I have no cake at all,so I am very envious..ooh,fresh cream ..sigh..

3 Mar, 2012

Yes Bloomer, I'm laughing in the face of my cholesterol:-)

3 Mar, 2012

As long as we keep taking our tablets,Ba...a treat is allowed :o)

4 Mar, 2012

I'm lagging behind with GoY ... nothing new there then, Sandra! ... I used to make this 'marble cake' with the children ... brought back some lovely memories ... and I laughed in the face of Cholesterol on Friday ... had a dessert of lemon meringue pie with cream ... first 'naughty food treat' in a couple of months ... not feeling at all guilty either ... lol! .....

4 Mar, 2012

Ha ha,me too,Shirley.:o)) I bet that tasted so good..no need to feel guilty...it's part of the recuperation process..and the lemon part is one of your five a day ! Lol.

4 Mar, 2012

I also made a plum cake lol...much healthier:-)
I don't take the tablets Bloomer I have those little yoghurty drinks...taste lovely and have oatbran and oat milk for breakfast with banana and grapes etc...mmmmmm delicious:-)

4 Mar, 2012

You don't seem as though you have any worries,Ba,,have another slice of cream cake ..oh,I forgot..it's all gone! :o)

4 Mar, 2012

I'm making another Shirleytulip plum cake today...in baking mood at the moment. I bought a Breville cake mixer from J Lewis arrived yesterday. Not used it yet. Breville compact less than £50. Given my old hand held whisks to daughter Boo. I've had them about 30 years, family heirloom bought at an auction when Boo was little. Great excitement all round and she informed my mum , over the phone, that mummy has got new whiskers!! :-))

6 Mar, 2012

Baking again ? There will be no stopping you ,now you have got your new mixer..sounds good..I still have an old hand held mixer too,Ba..probably about the same age as your's,if not older..a free gift in the days when I used to run one of those pay monthly Catalogues...remember them ? Commission paid for it..:o) Ha ha about the 'whiskers'... don't you just love em? :o)

6 Mar, 2012

I'm going to give it a go now, let you know how I get on. Bet it won't last as long as my 'whiskers' I have a tumble dryer which must be well over 25 years old. Not at all complicated like todays so not much to go wrong. I'll give it a decent burial if it packs in, it's never needed any repairs :-)

6 Mar, 2012

I'm just looking back the best blog and happy picture :-))) You did the best cake Sandra:-))) Happy Belated Bday! Thomas is so cute :-)))

23 Nov, 2012
