Cukes a Go-Go!

The Marketmore Cucumbers in the greenhouse on Gerry’s allotment are now producing Cukes like nobody’s business! So many that I brought home 8-10 yesterday! I also left one for my brother, Ken, who had been helping me on my allotment, Plot 12A, & I also gave one to Amparo, a Spanish lady who has come to Huntingdon for a month’s holiday & is living very close to us.

When I saw Gerry at church on Sunday morning I told him that he could take some from the greenhouse as well – much to my great surprise he told me he had already picked 10-12 during the week!!! I had no idea there had been enough for us both to pick so many!

About a month or so ago I was very worried that the plants weren’t producing any fruit yet that I posted a question asking what I could do to cause the plants to produce fruit! There were no end of flowers but only a couple of Cukes!

The photos are of the Cukes in the greenhouse on the allotment.

Thats the way with cucumbers, we wait patiently for the first one and then get a glut, lovely tasting one of your own though, hope the rest of your produce does as well Balcony...

You've got plenty there :o) Pitty they all came together, but it's nice to have enough for both you and Gerry.

That's the problem, Hywel, as you rightly say they all come at the same time & there's nothing you can do about it!

I was talking to 2 guys on the allotments field this morning & we all 3 agreed that many of our vegetables all come at the same time & there's no way you shift your produce to others! I freeze some of my produce but you can't do that with Cucumbers!
