My plum tree takes a battering every time its windy, its in a big pot but the wind (and gales) get it every time, So Last week i had a Lightbulb moment, Took about half an hour and would you believe it, I got the exact size hole i needed first time :) so Far So Good…

I Hate the wind, it causes so much damage, I was tying my young Cordyline up at 6oclock this morning!

Been quite a stiff breeze here all weekend, blowing a bit now, but much stronger winds forecast for afternoon. Still no rain to call anything, we had a little shower a couple of nights ago but it was only one to just damp down the dust. Still carting buckets of water everywhere I will have arms down to my knees if we keep on like this. lol. Hope you all keep safe and out of the wind up there in bonnie Scotland Helen. YoungDaisydee - you did good there, have the plums set on the tree, it is in a nice spot for just sitting and plucking a plum or two without having to move very far. yum yum

We have very high winds here in London, more like a winter gale than anything - but the sun is shining, and not a drop of rain, as usual... I don't like it either DD, hate working outside in it, and all the damage it does

Ive just came in from work and the tree is still upright :)) lost quite a few plums the last couple of weeks, with it gett'n blown over Oliveoil, i think there are only about 20 left, never mind, nowt i can do about it lol..

Thank goodness for inspirational moments Ydd, its also blowing a gale here with really stormy sky but not a drop of rain, I`ve planted a few more things out with watering can to puddle them all in but to be honest its uncomfortable to work in today, have had to shut greenhouse doors for safety.....

It is raining and has been for 5 whole minutes :o) lol. Hope it is going to keep going now it has started well at least for a couple of hours. I just got soaked to the skin, I was in the middle of cutting some grass and I could not stop until I had finished. lol. daft or what!!

23 May, 2011

Not daft at all, I'd have done the same, Oliveoil - maybe that means we're both bonkers though...

Very true is that saying "necessity is the mother of invention" and you`ve done a great job in anchoring the plum tree down.

It didn't last long that rain, about 20 minutes it has dried up again now.

Sun didn't last long alas. Winds are very strong ,Forth Bridge closed and motorways closed as trees on carriageways. Chaos for commuters :o(((

Ive been out and watered my pots half an hour ago, Hub laughs at me, huh, what Does'e he know, they were dry from the wind, especially my poor plum tree :)
I would carry on cutting the grass in the rain Oliveoil, Done it loads of times, Mind, i now have a petrol mower so no danger there...
There saying 70mph tonight girls, phew, my nerves can't stand it, or my hair, should of seen me when i came in from work lol..

Very windy down here as well but not nearly as bad as up there in in Scotland.

Still no rain other than a few drops here this afternoon that dried up in less than an hour! :-((

Allotment still looks like a desert of grey sand - feels like it as well!

Glad you managed to rescue your tree before the winds got at it, I too hate these gales they do so much damage to the garden and they dry it up so quickly, like olive I am constantly hauling watering cans up and down the garden, what a year we are having.....
