Autumn colours before the rain starts to fall.

The glorious weather that we have had,is about to come to an end in the south west.
I went outside to take a few photos, even though the skies had turned to grey.
Tomorrow I have jobs lined up in the shelter of the green house!

The leaves have started to fall.

Those apples must be good & crispy. Gorgeous garden overall. I love the autumn colors.

Lovely roses and scrummy apples! As I drove home on Friday I noticed the leaves were starting to fall here in the Chilterns too and a yellow haze developing in the foliage of the woods and hedgerows. Sadly my canine buddy's epileptic fits limited how much we could enjoy the last day of summer in the garden yesterday so my greenhouse is still waiting for a good overhaul but I did top dress the azalea and rhododendron tubs and put the doggy pool and swing seat away before the autumn winds got a chance to sweep them across the garden. It was good to see the ground wet this morning, my new alpines were ready for a decent shower. I have started buying spring bulbs too, looking forward to the ground being moist enough to embark on planting them.

Karen, we have had SOME rain but it is now sunny again and very pleasant!
Bathgate, the apples are in the greenhouse and I have just noticed that they have been nbbled!!! Field mice I suppose?!
Xela, I too enjoy buying spring bulbs and planning what to do with them! I am off into the greenhouse later to plant up my first two pots of bulbs under cyclamen and pansies - a nice thing to do.
Thank you ALL for your comments.

Lovely, autumn is a colourful time :)

Oh well...some rain is better than none. But yes I noticed on the forecast today that the rain had passed over you pretty quickly. We didn't have any rain today, but it was pretty grey. I only went to the greenhouse to get some compost for my houseplants. I got them all organised and some potted on. Was stuck indoors today as I have a nasty virus which has been hanging around me since getting home from Italy. I always seem to get a virus whenever I fly. Horrible stale recycled air on those metal tubes. :(

Hywel, I agree, Autumn is a beautiful time of the year.

I hope you will feel a lot better soon Karen, viruses seem to 'cling' on to me too when I get one. Not nice.

Your garden is beautiful. Autumn is a lovely time of the year when everything changes colour. Last night we had loads of rain but it barely hit the surface but the grass this morning looks a bit greener.

Beautiful colours Chris ,there's something special about the autumn I love it ,but I don't like to think about winter round the corner ...

Lovely autumnal blog, I expect you have had a decent amount of rain by now!! and you are busy moving and splitting, like we are!!

Marjorie, a reservoir near us is extremely low and we will need a lot more rain to get it back to normal.

Amy, I feel just the same about winter!!! Especially January and February. I need more than snowdrops to lift my spirits then!

DD It did rain quite a lot today and was only 14 degrees. Didn't do very much outside but we do need to!

Lots of lovely rain today, then we are expecting thunder storms for the next few days......managed to get one new bed sorted out, before rain stopped play!!

Have you had enough rain now? We've had loads:-) You have a lovely garden Chris and those apples look delicious. As they have been nibbled, you'll have to make an apple cake and, just like Shirley Tulip, you must give the recipe ( only if it's scrumptious like her plum cake) so we can all enjoy it:-)

I do occasionally make an apple cake Ba!!
I am not the most reliable of bakers but I do follow an online recipe called Dorset Apple Cake! The results are 'usually' ok!!!
I have also to be in the mood for baking - how about you?!

26 Sep, 2019

Me too, my OH has been on about making a banana cake ( using up old bananas) for days, but I was just not in the mood, so put them in the freezer, so when I am in the mood, then I will make it!!!(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

When the weather improves Rose, I shall try to show you a bit more of the garden!

I DID bake a cake today but it wasn't one of my better efforts as the fruit sank to the bottom! Tastes ok but could look better!! Good luck with the bananas DD 🍌🍌🍌
