Disappointment and Delays :(

Well…the waiting continues! We’ve had a phone call from our lady gardener to tell us the garden re-vamp needs to be delayed for two weeks. Disappointment has taken up residence in me today :(

One of her workers has injured his back yesterday and combined with the weather it has delayed the job they are undertaking at the moment so won’t be finished until the end of this week.

And the lady gardener is on holiday for one week so…we need to exercise patience and wait until two weeks from today for the work to commence.

Thankfully we are getting quite a lot of rain at the moment so I am hoping all my potted up plants will survive the delay.

So….no photos, no garden revamp….yet……

Oh Jacquie, how disappointing for you, I have been wondering how it was going. What a shame. But I suppose these things can't be helped, and perhaps the weather will be better for them in two weeks time. I know how you must feel though. These things are sent to try us...

oh well Jacquie, it has given you more time for research, and plant planning, always look on the bright side of life - it will be well worth the wait I am sure.

17 May, 2011

thats a shame... still not to long to wait now.... wish we had some rain down here.....

17 May, 2011

Oh heck Jaquie how frustrating..it's really hard when you are all geared up for something :(. Glad it's raining for you though :)

17 May, 2011

That is disappointing auntie Jacquie. I do hope that lady gardener is ready to go in 2 weeks and that it will soon all be done and lovely. I suggest you find some more nice gardens to visit to take your mind off it....and a fig roll or two perhaps?! ;))

17 May, 2011

so sorry about the del;ay jacquie, poor you, two weeks doesnt seem long unless you have already waited weeks or even months, but should still be finished for summer with luck, just keep your pots well watered and check they arent getting pot bound. i bet your itching to get going.

17 May, 2011

What a shame :( Don't worry though... before you know it two weeks will be gone and everything will be underway :) and as Oliveoil said... lots more opportunities for planning :) just grab a gardening magazine and start dreaming ;)
I hope her worker gets his back fixed and there are no more delays for you, you've been so patient... hopefully it will all pay off :)

17 May, 2011

Oh you must be so disappointed Jacquie, I know I would be. Never mind, those two weeks will pass quickly enough and you have your lovely garden all done for the Summer.

PS: please send some rain to the south-east. :o))

17 May, 2011

Oh dear Jacquie, I thought about you today, wondered if the rain had stopped falling for the lady gardener. Two weeks must seem an age for you, after such anticipation for the 'Big Day' but, it will be here before you know it. Just remember I waited nearly ten years for my makeover ... lol! : o ))

17 May, 2011

It's frustrating to have yet another delay but all the encouraging good wishes for continuing to plan for the garden (Olive), day trips to gardens (Karen), having rainfall to ease the burden of watering all my potted plants waiting for planting (Judy), and doing all of these things with patience as exercised by Shirley! lol You've all cheered me with your comments. :)

So....thank you one and all...Shirley, Labdancer (sending you rain!!), Jenny, San, Karen, Judy, Holly, Olive, and Cinders....you're all just so nice :)

17 May, 2011

I think we're all sharing your eagerness to have a garden, Jacquie, a bit like children in a sweetshop. You know, can't decide what to have, a little of everything would be perfect! Personally, a little downpour of rain would make me happy right now as the soil is just so very dry and hard. : o ((( OH is listening to footie commentary from Cardiff and it's lashing down with rain there.

17 May, 2011

Oh dear, Shirley....rain everywhere except where you need it! I wish I could just ship you some of ours over the last couple of days...if I could, I'd share :)

The longer I wait for this work to commence, the less confident I feel...how crazy is that?!!!

17 May, 2011

It's a combination of adrenalin, apprehension and frustration I think. Blimey, it sounds like I've swallowed a dictionary now! I understand the disappointment, been there, done that too. : o ))

17 May, 2011

Sorry about the delay also Jacquie, the rainif nothing else will give it a head start when it gets motivated - at least there will be no mud made from all that rain :):):)

17 May, 2011

I think your description is very apt, Shirley. Thanks too, Paul, for your comment....I bet your garden is thundering ahead, growing better with each passing day :)

17 May, 2011

Getting there Jacquie - had to move some spreading plants though - :):):) Hope for some nice weather for you when it goes ahead :):):):):)

17 May, 2011

Hi Whinstonlass, so sorry to hear about your disapointment.keep your chin up. we havent had any rain for days, we are having to water every thing .try and keep smiling :)

17 May, 2011

Well I need the sunshine, Paul, and Sue needs the rain! lol We really do have our trials with the weather....too bad we can't have a "weather swap"....lol

17 May, 2011

I`m getting frustrated on your behalf Whiston, you did say we`ed get a grand opening-cum-garden party, didn`t you?
All the best things are worth waiting for, please, please can I have some of your rain as well....

17 May, 2011

Consider it done, Lincs....rain on its way (she says with fingers crossed behind her back....lol)

A garden party eh? At this rate I will end up having a "work party"...lol

17 May, 2011

I'd love to have a work party! Is that like a painting party only with spades?! I'd love to give you a hand, if only I lived a weeny bit closer to you, and I could swim!
Sorry to be so flippant, Jacquie, when you must be so disappointed, it's only two weeks to everyone else but it probably seems like an age to you. It can take a bit of the shine off the whole thing...but I know you won't let it! You're much too much of an optimist to let that happen! Tomorrow is a new day, and then there's only 13 days to go! Be thinking of you, keep in touch!

17 May, 2011

Lovely comments Libet...I'll fly the flag for optimism :) and do my best to stop fretting about it all.

I'll keep you posted...

18 May, 2011

yes a weather swap would be nice ;)

18 May, 2011

Oh dear what a shame Jacquie still the bedding plants will last that much longer and hopefully should all be done in time for beginning of June then we can all see the photo's I am really feeling frustrated but at least you have not got to look out on the brambles while you wait now:) Keep us all posted

It's one thing that I have learnt W.lass. and that is 'nothing happens fast'!!! I am in the middle of having my garden re.vamped(as you might well know) and it is taking weeks and more money as we go, still after being away for the last week with my pals, I came back to find the path has been re-dug and it looks gorgeous, now the bottom patch has to be done and I think that will be another month or so!!!!! Patience is needed big time, I am looking on the bright side, like you need to too and as everyone has said on here, keep planning and wishing and it will soon come around, if you are like me 'I want it done, yesterday!!' x

18 May, 2011

Grandmage...yes, I remember that you are patiently waiting for your garden revamp too...and you are so right that nothing happens fast despite my wanting it done yesterday! lol

I've been out to B&Q and treated myself to some more plants and some compost for two planters I haven't yet sorted. At least everything seems to be doing ok in my pots with all the rain we've had the last few days here in Merseyside.

I remembered I had some good planting advice some months ago from Anchorman so I'm going to look in my notebook and refresh my memory this afternoon...and make a list. I just need hubby to chill about buying plants as he isn't much of a gardener and thinks we have loads already! Ha Ha....he's got a surprise coming as we will need lots more once the borders are in situ :)

Anyhow today I feel much better about the delay....the lovely bright, sunny day could definitely be helping :)

18 May, 2011

Oh Dear, Jacquie, what a huge disappointment for you ! I am so sorry because I know how much you must have been looking forward to it after waiting so long. Let's hope it all gets done in a couple of weeks - My fingers are crossed for you.

18 May, 2011

I hope you don't have to wait too long to get the garden redesign under way.

18 May, 2011

Whiston and Libet if we lived near to one another I`d be game for a garden/work party, love a challenge and think how much fun to be had........

18 May, 2011

Lincs... I could come along to the garden work party ...

... and you and I could both bring our dogs as extra "help" ... Lol.

18 May, 2011

Terra....I think Lucy might just be a tad jittery if we had visitors of the cannine variety....lol

I've just spent ages locating her as she was in the garden with me late this afternoon and vanished when I was ready to come in. I have just found her (7.30pm) meowing up in the hawthorn & ivy in a corner of our garden. She didn't want to jump down, even with me encouraging her so I went off to get my potting table so she could have something at the halfway point to jump onto....and you can guess what she did!! As I was returning with the table, down she jumps...

She's now come inside with me and seems none the worse for her little adventure. She's remained outside once before but doesn't appear to wander very far so I am relieved about that :)

18 May, 2011

Sounds like Lucy is getting adventurous ...Lol...

18 May, 2011

Oh yes Terra, Conker and Truffle on watering, Brynner stealing the tools or should I say finding them when we have misplaced them and Morgan keeping all the workers hard at it as he likes a cuddle every time a gardener sits down, lol..
Whiston I have been there many a time and have the scars from many an adventure amongst the trees but have also had a panic attack thinking said cat is stuck only to have it get itself down after I`ve fetched a ladder, grrr. Its good that Lucy is spending time in the garden with you, mine always keep me company although they get into trouble for sunbathing on my freshly planted areas.....

18 May, 2011

I think you are showing more patience than I would, Whistonlass, but I'm sure the wait will be worth it. Fingers crossed that the weather will be perfect when they start work :)

18 May, 2011

I don't have a head for very high heights...
... so someone else would need to climb up to rescue the cat while I cuddle Morgan ;o)

18 May, 2011

Oh Jacquie, what a bummer! I can just imagine how dejected you must feel..you could do with Alan and his Ground Force team..such a shame its not still going..I wouldve written a ream to get you on that show!
Still, lets get the rain out of the way, and I will be doing a sun dance (more like a sun hop) nearer the time. I saw your blog about your visit to B&Q...just what the doctor ordered! And your two barrels are simply gorgeous!
I see Lucy is getting more adventurous..do you have her microchipped? But she obviously is inspecting her territory which is good.
I shall be thinking of you over the next couple weeks and sending out positive (and demanding!) thoughts to your lady gardener.

18 May, 2011

I have recently been watching some of the repeats of Ground Force and my thoughts have wandered, much as yours M....how nice it would be to have a team like that come and sort all of this out. I'm sure the two weeks we have to wait will pass over quickly...more dreaming time :)

Yes, Lucy is microchipped and she has a collar that says "I am microchipped" with a bell (to alert our garden birds) and an identity tag. The Cats Protection League will not let a cat be rehomed before the cat is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated appropriate to their age. She seems to favour the garden adjacent to ours so I don't think she is wandering too far....I am a worrywort as we do live on a very busy road so I hope she keeps to the back gardens of nearby properties and avoids the property frontage and the busy road!!

I did think it odd that the lady gardener would choose this time of year to take a week's vacation but I didn't pry...perhaps she has an event sandwiched into her week's holiday. So bring on the sunshine for 31st May!

19 May, 2011

That's very disappointing for you :( after waiting and looking forward to it. I hope the delay won't be too long. The time is going on and you want to get things done. It's annoying when people let us down, but sometimes as in this case it seems unavoidable. But it's still disappointing.

19 May, 2011

Yup, disappointing Hywel....but time will soon pass (that's what I keep reminding myself...lol). I just want to get plants into the ground so they can flourish....some of my potted plants need room to spread :)

19 May, 2011

When you look back after it's been done, it won't seem so bad :o)

19 May, 2011

Yes, Hywel...ta :)

19 May, 2011

I was wondering if you and sewingkiller had your gardens done yet Whistonlas, i would be so disappointed and probably a bit angry as well, TuT..Ahh well hopefully the 2 weeks will go quickly for you and finally your garden will be finished :)

19 May, 2011

Thanks YDD....I'm doing my utmost not to be angry and just continuing to dream my garden into existence :)

19 May, 2011
