Mystery parcel arrives :)

I have been the happy recipient of a parcel this afternoon via Garden Bargains.com…and it originated in Leeds. First, I am really appreciative of the kindness of the person who has sent this to me (and especially today as I am feeling a little under the weather with a rotten headache). It was such a surprise.

The plant is a Gardenia jasminoides ’Kleim’s Hardy’ which I will google to see how it grows and it’s planting requirements.

I will have to go through members’ names and see who pops out as a likely candidate/GoY friend. I just don’t have enough words to say what a happy gift this has been.

Blessings on you, friend.

Jacquie

Well, how lovely for you. Now you just need to remember who you gave your address to .........

24 Mar, 2011

It's the Leeds address that is a stumbling block as I can only remember giving my address to Margo (Tetrarch)..I'll pm her and see if she can give me a clue.

I am thinking I will buy a container and plant it up for the patio for this year....oooh...I'm all excited now. I noticed the advice on the nursery website says to plant it in err...soil (I can't spell it....but I've got a bag of it in my supply cupboard....bought just in case...lol).

Ericaceous compost ? Do you think Tet is playing tricks by having it sent from Leeds? Wouldn't surprise me at all ... lol!

What a delightful mystery! Hopefully with a lovely fragrance, Whiston? (I've unpacked some lovely plants today, too . . . but then I did order them, lol.)

24 Mar, 2011

She may well be, Shirley....and yes, that's the word, Ericaceous....I've been told how to pronounce the word on a few occasions but my brain rebels! lol

I've sent off a PM to Margo and trying to do some detective work myself but no results as yet. Lucky you, Sheila....isn't it fun to see the plants land on the doorstep. I was very impressed with the packaging of this plant...at first I thought it was in a soft drinks bottle.

There was a receipt in the box but it was nameless! Hmmm...

curiose and curioser-- keep us posted...:o))

24 Mar, 2011

Will do, Pam...you can bet on it :)

Maybe someone remembered that 35 yrs. ago today I was giving birth to our first child, a daughter, Brenda (and coincidentally our daughter had her 3rd child, a daughter, Iona-Mae, 7 yrs. ago today)....whatever the reason for the gifted plant...I loved the surprise :)

How lovely :0)

OOOOh the mystery deepens. Wonder who has been a very kind gardening friend. Do you not recognise the handwriting on the parcel? Did we ought to call in the CSI team, they could swab and finger print the package. lol. Whoever sent it to you must be a very thoughtful kind person. I got a package today from my daughter it is a beautiful plant called Cardamine Pentaphyllos ( I shall never remember that name) it is very very pretty. Potted it up and planted it where it is in shade and watered it well. Hope I can keep it growing ok. Lovely to get parcels hope your detective work doesn't keep you too busy, cos you need to get out planting in the garden - good luck.

Olive...It was all printed up on computer labels...no clues at all! Really has me stumped...and there are any number of lovely friends here on GoY so I just can't guess who really!

Yes, maybe call in the CSI....lol

Am so glad this made you feel a bit better Jacquie...If only more people were like that in the world..it would be a happier place ! Hope your headache is better now.
How is Lucy ? Sometimes having a new animal can be so stressful even though they are so rewarding. Am sure she will become part of the furniture (that's if you've any left ,after she's had her claws in them !) before long :)

24 Mar, 2011

How nice for you.... hope your headaches is better....

24 Mar, 2011

its this sunshine Whiston-- we're just not used to it-- had to wear sunglasses today-- hurray \0/\0/\0/

24 Mar, 2011

Judy, Lucy is keeping her distance today...been sleeping a lot and I don't know if she is pouting or just feeling a bit off. She had her 2nd vaccination yesterday and she's not eaten much at all today, and as I said she is sleeping the clock around. The furniture is surviving, thankfully. She has shown no interest in the new scratching post we got for her from the CPL.

The head isn't improving (sinus I think, sore cheekbones, ears, head and throat....sounds like a rhyme...lol). I've had some pain killers tonight, hopefully they will kick in now. Thank you, Holly, for your kind good wishes.

The sun has been brilliant for a few days now, Pam and it does really make me feel brighter. Yes, time for the sunglasses alright :)

24 Mar, 2011

I have sinus problems and since changing to oat or soya milk for cereals ( still have normal for coffee!) and a teaspoon of Manuka honey a day its vastly improved

24 Mar, 2011

I don't use much milk at all, Pam....I had cereal with milk yesterday but that is my first milk in about 2 weeks. I'll keep track of when it flares up and see if there's a connection to be made. I have never used manuka honey so will look into that. Ta, Pam...kind of you to pass along the tips.

24 Mar, 2011

how nice, hop you head is better soon!

24 Mar, 2011

Thanks, Teds....no clues yet to my mystery package...

24 Mar, 2011

Thats a lovely gift Whiston, and as you say very kind of someone, hope you are feeling better now, hope its not sinus problems as I know how painful that can be........

24 Mar, 2011

Quite sure it is my sinus...a recurring problem throughout my life, unfortunately, Lincslass. I should get off the puter as it doesn't help with the concentration/fuzzy eyes etc.

Should go to the docs but not too keen...I have to take enough meds as it is!

24 Mar, 2011

What a lovely suprise, think you may need some help from Miss Marples to doscover the mystery donor, intriguing things happen on this web site. Hope your sinus clears up soon for you Jaquie;0))

24 Mar, 2011

Thanks for your good wishes, PP. It feels wrong not to be able to thank the gift-giver personally....I'll just have to post a photo on GoY when it's planted up :) and trust that it will be seen by the generous GoY friend.

24 Mar, 2011

You could perhaphs search Goy for the members who have the plants with the same name, it may give you a clue;0)

24 Mar, 2011

Oh....good detective tip, PP :)

24 Mar, 2011

Just call me Miss Marples lol

24 Mar, 2011

Well done to whoever sent it. I'm glad it's made you feel better :)

25 Mar, 2011

nice pressie jacquie wonder who, im sure it will be revealed shortly, hope so its got me thinking now lol

25 Mar, 2011

It really warms my heart to know that my feelings about GoY members are not misplaced....generous and friendly. I'm still playing 'give us a clue'.....so far I've not guessed who is the plant-giver.

I would like to put up a photo but my memory is full on the camera so I have to sort that out before I can do that.

Yes, Hywel, it has helped me to feel better :)

25 Mar, 2011

Hope your feeling better today Whiston! What a very kind thing to do for someone! The person who sent you a mystery parcel, managed to make you smile, which made your day even brighter! Well Done Them!!

25 Mar, 2011

Totally agree, Helen...very kind :) I am getting better too, thanks.

25 Mar, 2011

Och Jaquie! I didn't know you had a headache! You say it's sinus, maybe you're allergic to something outside, there's a lot of tree pollen around, I have a corkscrew hazel, and the catkins are practically chuckin' pollen around... I have to take an antihistamine before I can work in the garden at this time of the year! And then there's the paralysing migraines...don't get me started!!
Margaret, my twin, has had awful sinus probs and had to have an op on her nose. She swears by Beconase nasal spray, she says it helps stop the pressure building up into a headache. Maybe ask your chemist about it and it would save going to the Doctor!
Lucy will be fine in a wee while, our kitties are always under the weather after their jabs, it might take a couple of days! She's just huffed that you took her out of her nice warm home and a nasty man stuck a needle in her! Try her with a wee treat of something with a strong smell, like tuna, or salmon, if they can't smell their food they won't eat! So our vet says, and I've proved him right! Anyway , I'll go now I've probably made your head burst, get well soon!

26 Mar, 2011

I have used Beconase (I have some but it has gone out of date) and forgot today to get more. I'll see about getting some tomorrow...thanks for the reminder, Libet.

Lucy has settled down pretty well and tonight she is eating normally, wanting cuddles and insisting my lap is the best place to be (does nothing for my ability to type with the laptop though!...lol).

I'm off to my bed soon....I've just been on the webcam for quite awhile with our son in Canada...he wanted to "meet" Lucy and then we chatted for quite a long time. I don't know what we did to keep in contact with friends and family before the day of the internet...it is a real blessing.

Thanks, Libet for your good wishes.

26 Mar, 2011

Wow Whistonlass a web cam, you are becoming very techy. Hope you are feeling better now.

26 Mar, 2011

The webcam is still a challenge, Olive...so I won't begin to brag about my techi skills quite yet...lol

I could hear everything Dave (our son) was saying but I couldn't get his picture to come up on my laptop....he could see me (and Lucy) just fine. Oh the challenges for my addled brain! lol

We've definitely got some colder weather arrived today and the sky is looking very heavy and grey....holding up hope that it won't develop into rain...going to meet Sanbaz and her hubby at the plant fair tomorrow...and we want sunshine all the way :)

Feeling quite a lot better this morning....just off to get my first cup of fresh brewed coffee...it smells so inviting. Have a good day!

26 Mar, 2011

That's great you're both feeling a good bit better! Have a lovely time today and remember...there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing! Lol! ;0))) Take care!x

27 Mar, 2011

Thanks, Libet....I am up bright and early, showered, having that first delicious cup of coffee and watching old Ground Force programmes while catching up on GoY....I'm impressed with myself...lol....multi-tasking even on a day when the clocks have gone forward :)

I'm sure we are going to enjoy ourselves today...we'll be writing blogs about it all, I'm pretty sure.

Have a good day too, Libet.
