Morning has broken :)

I don’t sleep very well and consequently I sleep into the late morning most of the time. But last night I was tired just after midnight so toddled off to bed and awoke at 6am bright as a button (well almost…lol).

It’s many months since I’ve seen the daybreak and while it isn’t spectacular this morning as the sun hasn’t shown its face yet….I am enjoying the early start. :)

The washer is going, first pot of coffee has just brewed and maybe, just maybe the rain will stay away today….it looks promising at 6.55am Monday morning!

Early morning…just getting light (sorry for the dark photo)…

Sunday afternoon (and sunshine…well a little bit….autumn colours)

And yesterday’s creation….Toffee Apple Cake (yummy)

Well…the washer has just finished and I’ve had my first cup of coffee. Mist is rolling in so it’s a typical autumn start to this new day…

I’d wish you all a good day, clearing out the garden, planting, GC visiting (and buying…lol) or whatever you do to begin this new week.

And...if you look really closely you can just see the lollipop lady, accompanied by her neighbour, coming to our old newsagent's shop to get her morning paper....stick in hand. She'll park it up outside the shop until she returns to escort the little ones across our busy road.

Have a nice day :o) I hope the weather is kind to you, not like it's been here lately.

I like the early morning. Sometimes I fall asleep in the armchair after I get up though lol.
The sun is shining here and I'm going to give my garden the CHOP ! because I want to get to my shed :o))

Hywel..that sounds like a plan....go for it....the shed awaits! I too will likely take a doze in the chair later....lol

It's brilliant sunshine now and an almost cloudless sky so it's all looking good :)
It will be a lovely change after all the rain of the last few days....with only a few hours of sun.

Enjoy your day and good luck with your project, Hywel.

I've usually been at work for nearly 3 hours by now but I have today off & it's a lovely sunny start to the day!

Happy chopping Hywel!

Whist ... could you put some more cream on that cake? I don't think there's quite enough!!!!! ;o))

Thanks for all the good wishes with my Chopping lol. I'm going to get started now :O
I'll show some pics later on

lol....Yes there is rather a lot of cream isn't there? TT....the cake is in the fridge waiting....I'll be giving most of it away in a little while so best get your skates on if you want to get a piece.

It seems all systems go....we're having a new electrical box fitted (to separate the electrics from our old shop and our flat) so we have to go out today to pick up some of the parts as requested by Scottish Power. One of them is called a 'hockey stick' and it's given us quite a laugh as to us a hockey stick is for playing ice hockey (Canadians remember...lol).

Happy gardening all my GOY friends....Hywel....how long do we wait before sending out a search party for you? Is it a machete job to get to the shed? As Fluff says...happy chopping :)

Yes I have my shears at the ready. I think I'm going to find Dr Livingstone in there lol.

While u weren't looking I took a piece of that yummy cake. Yum!
It tasted so good I'd love the recipe????? Would love to know where u put the Toffee. Or is it as u said a Toffee Apple?
I had a baking afternoon myself but it was mostly testing new ideas but 2 out of 3 were not so good. Glad to say my strawberry/apple sponge-cake/tart turned out very good. I just need some cream for it but I see u used it all up. LOL! ;-)

4 Oct, 2010

I'd have shared my cream had I known you needed some, Angie...lol Glad you liked the cake! hehe

http://www.growsonyou.com/Gee19/blog/11930-toffee-apple-cake Here's a link for Gee's toffee apple cake....lots of GOY members have made it and enjoyed it a lot...good to use up the apples from our trees :) I think it's also filed under "R" for recipes in Gyopedia.

Hey, Wh.l - how many calories are there in that yummy-looking cake? I'm starting off now to come round for coffee and cake, so please get the kettle on.

Then I'm off to look for Hywel in his personal jungle. ;-))

I've just found my way back to the house for a coffee lol. I can nearly get as far as my shed now :D.

And as for Hywel...he's having a coffee break....maybe you could have coffee with Hywel and follow that up with cake at ours? Be quick....the cakes gonna be on the move to a friends very shortly!!

Thank you for your kind comments, Freesia. I enjoy baking and cooking both but with only hubby and I here to consume it now I usually end up giving baking away.

I agree....seeing the daybreak is a feast for the eyes. We live on a main, busy road as well and the earlier you are up, the less traffic! I didn't quite match my early rising of yesterday....today it was 9.30am....so I best not do too much boasting! lol

5 Oct, 2010

WL!!!! How could you? Don't you realise I have lost 16lb since August!!! How on earth am I supposed to stay on track with pics like this!!!! lol! It looks absolutely wonderful...toffee, apple, and cake all in the title......oh goodness....drool...drool....so glad I DONT live near you!!! :)))

5 Oct, 2010

You'd be on my giveaway list Karen...so long as I could come and feast my eyes on your beautiful garden :) lol You've done super to cast off those pounds too. I have no discipline when it comes to losing weight....I wish I could be as motivated as I was 3 or so years ago when I lost a lot of weight. Trouble is it's all back on again :(

I took half of the cake to my friend yesterday and gave some other pieces away too....less temptation that way....and it's a bit OTT with all that cream!

Thanks WL...all encouragements greatly appreciated! :)

What a lovely blog, there is something very special getting up as the sun starts to rise and the birdsong is magical too, its nice to track your day and love the ending with that tempting Toffee Apple Cake [Wish I was your neighbour;0)]

5 Oct, 2010

Before retiring we were newsagents and so we'd see the sunrise every day, opening at 5am 7 days a week. So for me now, retirement usually means I miss sunrise...and I agree PP...the early morning is very special.

As for being my neighbour, PP.....we were herded into Merseyside many years ago....but our towns were part of Lancashire at one time...so near neighbours? lol

5 Oct, 2010

Yes almost on the doorstep;0))

You'll be hooked, San....but you can't make me take 100% of the blame...it was Gee that first posted us....so she put out the bait and several of us took the hook! lol Hope you enjoy it when you get around to making it up. I would add a bit more cinnamon to the cream and a bit more apple if I made it again.

6 Oct, 2010

That looks absolutely delicious, thankyou for the link........

6 Oct, 2010

7 Oct, 2010

Well, here I am on Sunday 10th and you lot have been eating cake behind my back. I hope Hywel got to the shed and back safely.

10 Oct, 2010

I was very good this weekend and I made some applesauce (no cake) with more of our apples. Sorry you weren't about when we were sampling the above creation.

I'll soon be making pumpkin pie so you could always join the queue for that, Linda. lol Feeling a little short-changed as living in the UK now we don't get to celebrate Thanksgiving (turkey, trimmings, pumpkin pie)....all my friends/family will be enjoying their Thanksgiving dinners this weekend in Canada. :(

10 Oct, 2010

You should do the same. I'm sure your family will be happy to eat drink and be merry. Even if it is just two of you!!

10 Oct, 2010

Good plan, Linda...see what I can cook up...lol

10 Oct, 2010
