We had a tremendous thunderstorm yesterday with huge hail stones. I went out today to see if there was any damage. I think things survived really well.

Your plants seem to have survived the storm very well :) They still look wonderful even after being battered ...

Glad you didn't have any severe damage, Waddy - your garden is looking terrific. We're expecting high winds and torrential rain tonight, so I've closed up the greenhouse and moved a couple of 'precious' pots!

I agree with Hywel ... I love the creamy yellow Hollyhock and so many blooms on the Clematis ... lovely. :o)

No storm damage from what I can see. Just a very pretty floriferous garden.

Looks beautiful Waddy. Mind you there are some storms on their way to the UK on Sunday.

Incredible! Mine gets ruined just with heavy rain! Plants have not yet arrived, but I'm sure they will come on Monday and I expect they will be fine....plants usually do fine even if they are in the mail for a few days.

Thank you everyone. Yes, I do seem to have escaped any damage, thank goodness. I'll keep my fingers crossed Linda, and hope I'll escape again.
Karen, I do hope your right about them being fine...although I specifically asked and paid for 48hr delivery, so I'm cross.

All looking good Waddy and you have some beauties there as well, we've had high winds and really heavy rain at times in the last 48hrs with the odd clap of thunder, my two big sunflowers were laying flat this morning and a few branches scattered around from the willow tree, been out with more stakes and twine, hoping they survive but looking very sorry for themselves, otherwise everything was faring ok, I did hear that a few places had flashflooding but not as bad as expected, its really warm outside tonight and the wind has dropped, eerily calm compared to last night.....

My garden got hit with a thunderstorm microburst which I can explain easily as a giant foot stomping on the ground. My whole garden got flattened as well as two trees coming down. I am so glad to see your garden so beautiful .

You have some beautiful plants Waddy, and a lovely garden too. So glad there wasn't too much damage.

I keep trying to think what the lovely cream flower is in the 6th pic, Waddy . . . please could you ID it for this "bear of very little brain"?!

10 Aug, 2014

Hi Sheila; the flower is a trailing begonia Wedding Day.

10 Aug, 2014

Cinders; Thank you. More heavy rain overnight, but things still seem ok

10 Aug, 2014

Loosestrife; Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you can salvage things.

10 Aug, 2014

Lincslass; Sounds as if you got part of what hit here. What shame about the sunflowers. We had huge hailstones, thunder, lightening, high wind and torrential rain. We got even more rain overnight and the temp seemed to drop. Things still seem ok this morning, apart from the pond now being very full.

Beautiful garden - looks great :O) Raining hard here but garden standing up well apart from Autumn Raspberries which we had to tie up again because it had knocked them all down but we managed to get it done before the really heavy rain came this morning. Great pictures Waddy. :O)

Thank you Waddy . . . and I thought I didn't like Begonias, but I do now!

:)

Hope your lovely garden survived today Waddy, its been terrible here, my two ponds were in danger of joining up as the garden was awash, darn good job we live on a slope that runs away from the house, just hope everyone else is ok....

It arrived here late yesterday Lincslass, and it looks like it's unpacking it's case and settling in for the week. :(

11 Aug, 2014

Oh blimey, not much chance of being in the garden then :(

11 Aug, 2014

Anybody want an apple, there's more on the floor than left on the tree, its such a shame as these ones don't keep so apart from making a couple of pies and a new bagful in the freezer they'll all get composted, oh well thats part and parcel, gotta go clear them up before the dogs make themselves ill......

11 Aug, 2014

Yes, I have the same problem with fallen apples and the daft Labrador! No, no chance of getting out today, and the Landscapers, who are already two weeks later than promised, have had to cancel again. It hasn't stopped raining since yesterday evening, and the winds were awful during the night. The sky has brightened slightly though...so there's hope for later perhaps.

Your garden has done very well to survive the weather, Waddy. Very wet and windy here still but, despite all the rain, when I dug down to put in a new plant, the soil was dry.

11 Aug, 2014

So glad to hear the storm didn`t do any real damage as you have some wonderful plants, the hollyhocks are to die for.

12 Aug, 2014

Julia, I planted all my plants today, in the rain!

12 Aug, 2014

Gee19; I've had to dash out yesterday and tie a couple of things up, one of my 11ft Sunflowers had leaned onto the garden swing. All ok now though.

12 Aug, 2014

Stroller; Thank you, I've DRC726 to thank for sending me seeds last year.

12 Aug, 2014

Cottagekaren; Great! Glad you can use them all. At least if it's raining, you won't have water them in lol!

12 Aug, 2014

A lovely garden with wonderful variety of plants.
I'm glad that you didn't get too much damage.

All gooD!

Very nice garden. I really like the water feature.

14 Aug, 2014

I hope it's still looking good? Feels like autumn here now, I don't want the summer to end. How lovely to see cleome, I only tried them once and they never flowered for me:-)

16 Aug, 2014

Thanks Bill. Things are still holding up despite the winds.

17 Aug, 2014

Thank you Paul. That's the third (or is it the fourth?) attempt at a water feature. I'm glad you like it. :)

17 Aug, 2014

Hello BA, yes, things are still looking ok thankfully. I plonked the Cleome in all over the garden, but only one patch has been what I would call successful. I think they remind me of a firework.
