My neighbour knew I wouldn’t accept being paid for my work in his garden so he gave me this…how could I refuse?

His son turned up on my doorstep on Sunday with it. He said his dad had racked his brain what to get me so he could show me how pleased he was. I have to say I was bold over...how could I refuse?

lovely gift. so many people seem to assume that even saying an off-hand "thanks" is too much!

Quite agree Fran. We have a neighbour who asked my OH if he would water her pots etc while she was away on holiday. No problem, but she's been back two weeks now and not so much as a 'thank you' Don't think he'll be so accommodating in future. I think she's just plain rude.

courtesy costs nuffing, as we used to say. lol at the least, it helps a favour to be repeated in future!

How rude,Waddy..I think I would be inclined to agree with your OH next time..or I wonder she would do yours when you are away? It would be interesting to know...

good point, Bloomer - people who take favours for granted aren't usually that keen on returning them

Yes, BA it is nice, and to be honest that's all I wanted. The Phalaenopsis was a very unexpected surprise. :)
