Happy Birthday to me! One year on GOY.

It’s been a year this Feburary that I joined Grows on You.

A lot has happened in that year I could go on about credit crunch and new presidents but I wont. I will though mention that in a year I have managed to breed frogs in my one year old wildlife pond (not that I really had anything to do with it), I made an arch from some cut Hazel (I cant bring myself to pay for one), I laid a new path down through my tree ferns. Re-designed my front garden, as it was really boring. Oh baby robins as well.

I had some success with my seeds, lots of dahlias, fox gloves and sweetpeas plus several I dont know there names. Potatoes grown in old compost sacks worked a treat.

Failures with Plums, and tomatoes grown outside. I still have not got around to replaceing two fence pannels. I had Rats in the garden this year and we had sewage flood the early part of the year as well. (Southern water have sorted this now). Lily beetles put up a good fight but lost.

I had my first Earth Star appear which was a complete surprise. Box topiary was in order after purchasing a couple of reduced large box shrubs. Sarracenias looked good all year and are still happy outside. Sempervivum also looked good in drift wood (larger bits would look better).

Not a bad year for my garden.
This year I am after more colour, there is plenty planted and getting ready to burst open full of energy vigour and colour.

I am halfway through my RHS level 2 course and I got voted in as the new chairman for our local Garden Club.

Finally like everyone else I have made some great new friends on here as well as learning lots of new things as well. Here are some pics of all the above.

Happy Birthday to me.

Lovely photos and memories, Trees. All that in one year! How's the course going? I am on lesson 8 of mine - not the RHS one, though. It takes a lot of time - do you find that too?

Spritz,
Course is going really well. I am surprised how much I am remembering. I have completed lesson 5 so I am now ready to sit the exam, but I didnt register in time as I didnt think that I would be at this stage so early. So I have to book by the end of April I believe to sit the exam in June.

Lesson 6 to start now, but we are off to New York in a weeks time so I am having a break until I get back. Soils can wait.

How is your course going? I never did ask who your tutor was?

I wanted to show a years worth and the projects I have carried out. Problem came trying to find the right pics to add.

So you got lily beetles, baby robins, paths, rats, my youngest Harry, lots of flowers from either seed or bulbs, a head of hair, an Earth Star, a mirror and my Fairy door plus an insight into my little garden.

Gilli the striped rose is called 'Monet' the red and white Dahlia is called 'Fir and Ice'.

Bonkersbon I have not seen the rats since the summer hopefully they have moved on (fingers crossed). We did stop putting food down for the birds on the floor though.
