A new project

Hi all, I thought I would share our latest project in the garden with you all. We had a very large conifer we inherited with the garden which helps hide the next door bungalow. The other day my OH and I decided it needed a long overdue haircut, so one evening we went out with our secateurs to give it the snip.
Well one snip led to another and before we knew it we had made considerable inroads, and when we stood back to have a look at are handy work we found we had made quite a hole. The old conifer had been taking up quite a bit of room, so as we hadn’t a lot of shade in the garden we decided to create a little shade corner. Here are some photos of before and after and a few of the summer flowers now out in the garden.

The old conifer before the haircut

and now a lot more room

Log roll in place, weed suppressant and shingle down. Then the finale touches, mirror and water future and of course some plants.

our shady corner project all done and dusted

Hope you liked our little project, till the next time ;-)

Wow, that's some transformation. Not only a shady corner, but a sitting room - a hide-away. I like the mirror.

Well done. I have a second mirror for free, if anyone wants to collect it.

That looks lovely, Teds. A shady corner is such an advantage in the garden, and yours is beautiful. I agree about the mirror - it's a real enhancement.

Thank you for your kind words, to be honest it was Annella's garden that gave me the notion to use a mirror. I have always admired her seat corner and the use of the mirrors,( hope you don't mind Annela?) but that's what is so nice about seeing other GOY gardens. Each one brings something new and helps us improve on our own gardens :-)

All that's left is a nice tall glad of iced tea and a good book.

Teds it looks so welcoming I love it, I have to say that Goy has certainly added to my venturing out in the creative sense as regards my changes in my garden as well as causing my wishlist to grow, I must show my hubby your little corner, he's been asking for years why I don't have a mirror in the garden but I didn't like where he wanted it to go, seeing yours has reminded me and I do have the perfect place now, he's taking a lot more notice of the garden this year due to the fact that he's taken over some jobs to help me, I might just get my way as regards a mirror, sort of striking while the iron is hot so to speak, lol....

Very smart corner Teds. I also got some very good ideas from Goy.

Thank you all for your kind comments, I'm pleased Lincslass that you now have somewhere to put up a mirror, we would love to see in when it is done. The garden can bring us so much pleasure and help us through the hard times, we hope you are getting better :-)

It's a lovely garden and, I'm sure a lot lighter in that corner, now.
And, I love the mirror! Am currently looking for one for our garden!

Are you feeling better now Paul?

Got mine from www.primrose.co.uk online Paul, they have everything for the garden, I have brought quite a lot of stuff from them over the years. Good luck with the hut for mirror and hope you are well.
