This is my Wisteria sinensis `Alba` which I planted in June `09, doesn`t look very good to me is it going to survive.
Sorry forgot to rotate before downloading this first pic.

This is to show the whippy ends.

Have you tried scraping a bit of the bark. Sometimes you'll see it green underneath and that means it's alive.
Anyway maybe the root is still ok so it could grow back from lower down.
I hope it's ok. They have wonderful flowers.

Hi Stroller having put my neck straight from first pic ( lol ) I ll now put it on the line and suggest it looks like there may be signs of flower buds on the lower established stems. It is usual to prune back the wispy lengths to about finger length above a bud in February.

I would still trim them back on the bits supported by the cane leaving a Y shape to just above buds and do the same to those coming out from the main stem do not prune main stem itself .These would have been removed by earlier pruning anyway and will not carry flowers this year.

Its tempting to allow the wispy bits to cover a wall quickly but correct pruning in summer and again in winter encourages the development of a strong main stem and frame and stops leaf growth prior to flowering.

Over subsequent years this pruning is extended in height to allow each stem to mature and these will carry flowers. You may have seen lovely old cottages dripping in beautiful wisteria flowers without a leaf in sight. This is how they acheive it to ensure flowers are borne before leaf growth.

Hope this helps wish you well with it as white ones are lovely .

I do hope it's OK, Stroller. I've been a bit worried about my Solanum - but I 'think' I can see little buds appearing here and there. Everything is soooo late!!!

I shall doctor it very carefully Spritz and I hope that your little buds become bigger buds.
Thanks so much Ray and June for your time and trouble I shall do as you say, I have patience don`t know about time (69 this year) but then it should be a good size by the time I`m 90 and too old to prune it!!!!!!!!!.0:)
Hope the neck has gone back ok ,otherwise somebodys tiles aren`t going to be straight. (lol).
