Giving topiary a try with the help of the Sun and my Son,

The weather was kind to us on Sunday and when my Son came round he gave me a hand and moral support to have a go at clipping the Nitida shrub into a nice round ball.
The first photo is a before picture, its the shrub with the white tick mark

After its hair cut

and in close up

Not done anything too drastic but I think it gives it more definition and adds a little more interest to the garden.
Just grateful to have these odd days of sun as we are now back to rain.

Wow that looks so good. We had a better Sunday than expected and I too got work done, even so got wet in a shower but stuck it out there in the garden - soaked to the skin when I came in. lol. but happy to have done some work at last in the garden. :O)

It has made a difference Stroller, its definitely gardening in short bursts, I think everybody is grabbing any dry spells to at least get a little something done outside, also helps our moods as well...

What a great job! I tried to do a box spiral last year - what a disaster!!!! I'm pleased to say though that it has put on plenty growth and now looks almost like it did before I started :))

Lol.Carole yes I can see I shall end up with one or two more, got my eye on a Euonymus that looks just right for having a go at.
Pam ... I just used a pair of shears.
Scottish .... not adventurous for spirals yet but who knows.
Geranium ... go on be a devil as Scottish says it will grow back if it doesn`t look good.
Hywel have you tried other shapes, or are you like me just sticking to the basics.
Mark61 ... bet you would have if you tried.

I made a start on the easiest one today Stroller - it doesn't look too bad for a first attempt, though it still looks more like a 'blob' than a 'ball' at the moment, lol! Hopefully I'll get better with more practice ;o)

Good for you Geranium, we`ll get better at it as we go along then.

Eh up Phyl \0/ Great job, I'm still trying to catch up on blogs, not been on too much lately, but hopefully back on track. The weather is going to improve too as the jet stream goes back where it belongs, well so I heard on the radio:-))
