One Sunny Day...and...

…all my crocuses opened, and the garden lit up!

First my blue pot – it looked like this today.

The crocuses are ‘Prince Claus’.

In the back garden, there are patches of purple – I don’t know why the crocus’ name is ‘Ruby Giant’!

What a difference a day makes – this is what they looked like then.

In the gate trough I planted Viola ‘Antique Shades’ and Crocus ‘Blue Pearl’.

Over in the wide border, a ‘spring corner’ was lovely to see today.

Pretty little blue flowers opened, too – Anemone blanda.

And a lovely surprise – a tiny blue flower that wasn’t there yesterday.

Hepatica transsivanica

I think Henry enjoyed the sun, too – but he didn’t look at the flowers.

We’d like more days like today, please!

Lovely blog, beautiful photos and some very attractive planting combinations. All it takes is a bit of sunshine to make everything look wonderful!

Hope Henry enjoyed his sunbathing!

How lovely after all the problems! Like medicine isn't it?

Thank you for the lovely photographs.

Thanks for reading it! It was a real treat to see the sun after all the grey days we've had. Sadly, it was a one-off. We're back to more grey today and rain as from tomorrow. I made the most of yesterday, as I'm sure other GOY-ers did. There must have been a lot of gardening gong on!

its was busy busy here too...ot makes such a difference to get a little sunshine..x

what a lovely set of flowers. I think ruby giant as it was a purply pink colour and I think they are trying to con us into thinking there is a pink spring crocus.

My Hepatica transsivanica isnt even in bud yet.
Blue pearl is a gorgeous little crocus isnt it. I have it too.

A pink crocus! Whatever next? lol. I suppose there will be at some point in the future, but it seems so unnatural.

To see all these little gems does put a spring in the step especially when accompanied with some gorgious sunshine which I think most of us made good use of.

I have, !! the big problem is.....with all this bad weather forecast I have a dilemma, because of it's size I am not sure I will be able to take it indoors!!

8 Mar, 2013

Go on -what is it? I shall take a look at your photos now. I'm intrigued.

Isn't it nice to see the crocuses ? They're my fav spring flowers I think, always so cheerful :o)
And nice to see Henry enjoying the weather.
I do agree we need more of this weather.

Bonkers how nice to see you, how are you both?

Thanks, Hywel. :-) I don't like the forecast, do you?

Hiya Bb! Nice to see you. :-D

Thanks, Paul. That's very kind. I had some white ones and a few pink ones too, but they haven't reappeared this year. I wasn't all that struck on them anyway.

Your mystery plant is now VERY mysterious, Dd.

No I don't like the forecast. It's too cold. Maybe it won't last very long.

10 Mar, 2013

Be careful what you wish for Hywel. It has been bitterly cold here but it felt less so this morning and we have snow. The council have been caught out because the roads have not been gritted yet.
Its lovely to see all the flowers in your garden Spritz. How is the fllooded part recovering?

10 Mar, 2013

It's difficult to tell yet, Scotsgran. All the plants on the stream bank were lying flat, and I've pulled off the dead Montbretia leaves which were on top of some of the plants - a Ligularia that was planted next to them is no more, but I'll have to keep my fingers crossed about the other plants.

It has been snowing here, but it hasn't settled...yet.

10 Mar, 2013

You've had snow ? :o( I didn't think it would get so far west. I'm glad it didn't settle.

10 Mar, 2013

Forecast here also, at the moment it is very, very cold, and we have returned to winter, again.

10 Mar, 2013

Yes, Hywel - it snowed lightly for several hours, but thank goodness it didn't settle. :-) I wonder which areas are all white?

11 Mar, 2013

It's white here this morning. A bit of a shock. The forecast said it would only be in the east :o( I'm glad it didn't settle with yoiu Barbara.

11 Mar, 2013

We have snow too. I'm just about to head out to help clear the drive so we can put our bins out.

11 Mar, 2013

The snow's cleared now lol - it wasn't much after all :o)

11 Mar, 2013

We've only got a few mm's settled, Hywel, but it's still falling and swirling around in a very strong wind.....horrid day!!!!

11 Mar, 2013

It was nasty here - a bitter wind and snow, but it didn't settle, thank goodness.

11 Mar, 2013

It's snowed here most of the day but only a little settled. However, the forecast is for 4/5cms over night .So, I suspect we'll wake up to a covering tomorrow!!! Amd the normal road chaos that ensues!!

11 Mar, 2013

It had better not arrive here - we've got some travelling to do today!
