Garrya elliptica is an outstanding wall shrub, growing up to 4m (13') tall, with greeny-grey evergreen foliage and long, distinctive catkins in winter. It is those fascinatingly beautiful catkins which earn it the alternative name of 'Silk-tassel Bush'. Garrya elliptica grows well in sun or shade so it is a useful choice for a north or east-facing wall. Easy to grow, it holds itself against a wall with little support and can also be grown as a free-standing shrub. Height and Spread: 4m (13').
