The Mountfield 1540H is manufactured to the highest standards and is equipped with the sort of practical and convenient features that are a must-have if you’re looking-after a substantial lawn or paddock area (up to 2.5-acres). It’s fitted with an ultra-reliable 452cc Mountfield overhead-valve engine, which benefits from the incorporation of an effort-saving electric key starter; and it features a manoeuvrability-enhancing hydrostatic drive, which provides infinitely variable control of both the forward and reverse speeds using a single foot-pedal (a tight turning circle and light steering also aid manoeuvrability). This high-specification machine has a 102cm twin-bladed cutter-deck which is easy to keep clean thanks to a deck-wash facility. It offers seven preset-heights of cut, which are easy to select using a handily positioned lever; and it comes with a huge 260-litre grass-collector, which can be emptied from the seat and has an audible alarm that sounds when it’s full. As with all Mountfield lawn tractors, this model cuts beyond the wheel-width, so there’s less strimming work to do once you’ve finished mowing.
