An amazingly popular species from the Mediterranean region. Striking intense crimson-purple flowers contrast with glossy green leaves a real stunner wherever it is planted! Flowering from early June it prefers sun and good drainage. Although the corms are fully hardy it is advisable to mulch to protect new growth from late spring frost. Excellent for cutting.
