Make the most of every day ...

I thought I would share with you my latest health scare … another heart attack on March 20th saw me ambulanced to hospital.
Having felt so well for the past three years since I had a cardiac procedure it came as a huge shock, especially as I had felt fine the previous day and enjoyed a lunch out with a seaside walk after!
Anyway, after five days in hospital, and an Angiogram test, I am happy to say I feel a lot better thanks to the tablets I’m now taking, just need some follow up blood tests and an Echocardiogram is booked for tomorrow.
My thanks go the NHS for their expertise and wonderful treatment.
However, yesterday and this morning I took a look at how Spring is treating the plants in my garden and hope you will enjoy seeing what is happening now the poor weather of Winter seems to have changed to sunnier days.
Some of the Hostas that were kept in the unheated greenhouse over Winter are now leafing up again and Brian, my huge snail, has come out of storage too!
Roses, both in pots and the ground, are leafing up, as are the Acers and the Grapevine.
Daffodils are still flowering, also one of the Hellebores just keeps on throwing out blooms.
There is much blue and yellow from the Wallflowers, Ajugas, Forget-me-nots and one Welsh Poppy!
Foliage on the Photinia ‘Red Robin’ is glorious right now and the dark plum colour of the Sambucus is lovely in the sunshine.
Without boring you with any more photos, I will just say that I am absolutely loving being able to see all this new and exciting growth now that Spring is here!
I shall finish by saying a huge ‘Thankyou’ to Michael, he was so worried when I was whisked off to A&E and has been looking after me so very well.

Oh my word, so very young to have had a heart attack. I was 58 when I had my first one, no pain, just an overwhelming sense of fatigue. The stents will help her tremendously.
My ceramic snail came from the Isle of Wight and the talented lady who made it never made them identical. It gets wrapped up and put away annually!

You've been in my thoughts for a few weeks Shirley...so pleased you are on the mend and into your Spring garden.x

Oh Shirley, what a terrible shock. You sound very calm and philosophical … so glad the meds are helping. And it’s certainly cheering to see all the lovely Spring plants coming into life 🙂. x

Thanks Julia, I'm sorry to say that I have passed on the cough and cold germs to Michael.

Sheila, I've always been a 'glass half full kind of person' ...
which is probably just as well right now!
We currently have new folk in the property behind ours and a rather unattractive 'office or store' garden building is under construction. That's a blog for another day!

Shirley, I am so glad that you are over the horrible situation and your medicine is helping. I was also thinking about you as your absence here is unusual.
All your plants look happy and healthy. I enjoyed seeing them and I have always liked "Brian". I hope the lovely weather will stay and encourage more plants to bloom.
Hoping for a quick recovery for Michael.

I am so sorry Shirley and glad that you are recovering well.
Just take it easy now and enjoy the spring sunshine.
Your blog wasn't on my page but found it in Gardening Blogs.
Your garden is definitely into spring now!

Thanks for your kind words, Klahanie. I was told yesterday that all looked good on the Echocardiogram, pulse is slow at 50 beats per minute but that's down to the beta-blockers and I feel fine!
Michael has felt unwell for two days with a hacking cough and fatigue. Hopefully plenty of rest will do him good.

Hello Rose, it's not warm or sunny today with rain due this afternoon, welcome to Easter in the UK!
I may spend an hour in the greenhouse later, at least it's out of the chill in there.
Happy Easter to you ... :o)

Shirley, I’ve been thinking of you this past fortnight after our PM.
(Work’s been chaotically busy, apologies.)
I hope you’ve been feeling a little better, it must’ve been frightening for you and all the family. Hoping you’ve had your checkups the other day and all is ok and the meds are helping?
I’m happy you felt looked after and supported by the NHS, sometimes it’s not always a positive experience.
Your Spring garden is looking lovely, your Photinia is looking great, all that lovely lush colour. Your acers are attractive, especially the one with the peachy new colour. I’ll enjoy your hostas again this year, ours are gone now, after struggling for years. That hellebore is so pretty, love the colour and shape. All in all, your garden is springing into life! Lots of pretty blooms and healthy new greenery.
Have a lovely Easter! Take care and get plenty of rest. Michael is a star! x

Shirley I'm so sorry, I've tried to pm you a few times but its a no go still, you have obviously been in the wars again which explains why I couldn't find you on any days out, I was blaming goy, for that I'm not apologising as its stealing my comments again and won't let me ask questions or send pm's, hoping this stays put, you take care now Shirley....

Sorry to hear this Shirley, so glad you are feeling much better, I think the sunshine has helped us to all enjoy the garden and get on with our jobs, it's amazing how it all comes on in a few weeks, take care 🤗

Hello Kate, all ok with the Echocardiogram last week, so that's a positive! I actually feel pretty good but am learning to not overdo things ... difficult but I'm getting there ... :o)
The Acer in the border is 'Orange Dream' which has been in a pot for some years. It has been my turn to to be 'Carer' as Michael fell victim to the cough and cold that I had. It was bad enough for us to do Covid tests, both negative thank goodness.
Sue, I definitely have not had any PM's from you so I shall email you tomorrow. GoY still has problems across the site as it won't let me delete plants or photos from my Garden page.
Daylily, I think the sun has deserted the South coast , so grey down here. Btw, I was an NHS admin. worker back in the day, Path. Lab. and then Breast Screening in the days when we typed everything!

Hi Shirley, yes I remember using the typewriter well and carbon copies and tippex for corrections haha, it's come a long way hasn't it, I left school in 1984.
I work for mental health trust now and have done children's services too.
We've got the grey weather at the moment and some rain but has been quite nice for a couple of weeks.

This morning is dry and sunny, with temperatures forecast to rise over the weekend, hooray!

My hostas are just starting to poke through as well Shirley and my hellebores are hanging onto their flowers too. I'm sorry about your heart attack, I feel for you, even more so as my granddaughter was taken into hospital last week with a heart attack. 31 years old, we were not expecting that. She has had balloons inserted into the vessels and we're hoping for her full recovery as she has three little girls. The NHS has done her proud. Loving your snail by the way.
