Autumn colours - for Klahanie

Our favourite Acer (Bloodgood?) taken from the bedroom window . . shame I couldn’t keep my hand steady! And when the sun came out and made the leaves glow, it didn’t last more than a few seconds :(

Long view of the garden (from upstairs) with Amelanchier on the left, and Great White Cherry (Prunus Tai haku) at the back

Closer view of the back of the garden

New Lemon and Lime Nandina on table with Loropetalum

Some days autumn is not so bad :)

Thanks Karen :)

Wonderful fall colours Sheila. I also like the white in the mixture. Cornus controversa on the right but what is the white plant on the left? I have a JM Butterfly but it is still very small. Bloodgood has wonderful colour in the fall.
And I like the colour of the Prunus too.

Its perfect! Bloodgood is gorgeous - you are lucky to have enough shelter for Acers!
Off the subject, how much upkeep does it take to prevent the grass growing over the paving stones? We could really use a path like that but there is so much edging to do already...

You have a lot of colour Sheila.
Autumn colours to me are a real highlight.Summer blooms are fantastic but you definitely need an end of season display with the leaves and you certainly have that!
Alamanchier.....smashing!

Thank you very much everyone for your lovely comments.

Klahanie - the 'white' plant on the left is actually the silver-leaved Eleagnus 'quicksilver' . . yes, it makes a good contrast to the other greens and golds.

Sue - we don't cut the edges of the stepping stones very often - mainly when we have visitors, or when the grass gets really untidy!

Paul - the Amelanchier is definitely a favourite!

Many thanks, Sandra. It seems to be a very good autumn this year, with the trees hanging on to their transformed leaves :)

I love your Bloodgood Acer. It's one of the best for autumn color and an extremely popular landscape feature. I wish I had space for one. I could plant a whole forest of all the trees I wish I could have, lol! Thanks for the tour Sheila.

Looks lovely Sheila, we are having a really good autumn as regards colour, its a pleasure to see all the trees and shrubs changing even though its the onset of winter...

You're right Sue (Lincs) - apparently because it was a wet spring and early summer, the leaves are all hanging on for longer this year, and the colours are stunning aren't they?! When the sun comes out, it's a pleasure to go for a walk and admire all the local trees :)

Must be lovely Sheila. Most of the trees round here are ash and sycamore, that just go brown and shrivel up.
Even my Phyosocarpus doesn't go red. So my blueberry is a lifesaver just now!

Sheilabub, the bloodgood acer is one of my favourites too and with all the other lovely autumnal colours you have in your garden certainly makes autumn something to look forward to. Your garden looks a beautiful place to relax in.
